TheAssociateManagingEditoroverseesjournaleditorialand/orproductionoperationsforclients'peerreviewedjournalsfrommanuscriptsubmissionthroughpublication.Thisroleservesastheprimarypointofcontactforclientstakeholdersandensurestheworkofthededicatedsupportteamexceedsexpectationsforproductivity,quality,andscheduleadherence.TheAssociateManagingEditormaysuperviseoneormoreEditorialAssociates.

Duties&Responsibilities

  • Provideexcellentcustomerservicetoallexternalandinternaljournalstakeholders,includingeditors,authors,publishers,andcolleagues.
  • Ensurecontractualrequirementsandservicelevelagreementsforassignedclientworkflowsaremet.
  • Overseejournalinboxesandhandleescalations.
  • Updateandmaintainaccurateprotocolsforeditorialworkflows.
  • Trainandmanagesupportstaffperformingdailypeerreview,editorial,and/orproductiontasks.
  • Informmanagersofstafferrorsand/orclientfeedbackimmediatelyandensureissuesthatcouldimpactcustomersatisfactionareresolvedrapidlythroughinternalescalationprocesses.
  • Serveasaproficientuserofmanuscriptmanagementsystems,includingworkflowoptimizationandtheuseofsystemreportstomonitortimelinessandotherindicatorsofjournalhealth.
  • UtilizeKGLEditorial'scloudbasedtechnologyasacommunicationandproductivitytool.
  • Proofreadandrefinecorrespondenceandinformationsenttojournalstakeholdersforgrammarandclarity,includingdecisionlettersandinstructionsforauthorsandreviewers.
  • Prepareagendas,complexsystemreports,otherreports,and/orpresentationsforeditorialmeetings.
  • Handleinvitedmanuscriptsandotherspecialcontentworkflows,includingspecialissuesandsupplements.
  • Administersocialmedia.
  • Performotherdutiesasassigned.

BasicQualifications

  • Minimumof3yearsworkingintheeditorialofficeofascholarlyjournal.
  • Knowledgeofscholarlypublishingprocessesandbestpractices.
  • Excellentoralandwrittencommunicationskills.
  • Experiencewithoneormoremanuscriptmanagementsystems,suchasEditorialManager,ScholarOneManuscripts,oreJournalPress.
  • Socialmediaexperience.
  • Proficiencywithstandardofficetechnology,includingMicrosoftOffice,teleconferencingplatforms,andSharePoint.
  • BAorBSdegreerequired.

DesiredSkills&Abilities

  • Stayinformedaboutindustrytrends,competitoractivities,andchangesintheindustrylandscape.

PhysicalRequirements

  • Generalremoteofficeenvironment(homeoffice)involvingintensiveuseofahighendcomputerworkstationfordevelopmentandcommunicationactivities.
  • Requirestheabilitytograspobjectsutilizingmanualdexterity,includinghandandfingercoordination.
