Location: Omaha, NE – Hybrid or United States – Remote

The job:
As a Senior Cloud Security Engineer at Buildertrend, you’ll help protect the systems that keep construction businesses running smoothly every day. Your work will strengthen the security, reliability, and scalability of our cloud infrastructure, giving builders confidence that their data, workflows, and customer communications are protected. You’ll influence how security is built into our platform from the ground up, partnering with engineering and architecture teams to reduce risk while supporting innovation.

What you will do:

  • Lead the design and management of cloud security controls across Google Cloud environments.

  • Conduct security assessments to identify vulnerabilities, misconfigurations, and compliance gaps, then drive remediation efforts.

  • Develop and maintain cloud security policies, standards, and best practices aligned with frameworks such as NIST and SOC 2.

  • Partner with cloud engineering, site reliability engineering, and product engineering teams to implement secure infrastructure and network changes.

  • Support DevOps and infrastructure teams with secure deployment practices, automation, and cloud security tooling.

  • Monitor network activity and security events, investigate threats, and respond to incidents to maintain platform integrity.

  • Mentor team members and share guidance on cloud security strategy, tooling, and emerging risks.

Who you are and what you need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information security, or a related field required.

  • 10+ years of experience in security engineering or cloud engineering, with a focus on cloud and network security required.

  • Hands-on experience securing Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environments required.

  • CCSP or CSA certification is a plus!

  • Strong understanding of cloud networking concepts, including virtual networking, routing, subnetting, and access controls.

  • Experience conducting cloud security audits, assessments, and remediation planning.

  • Familiarity with security and compliance frameworks such as NIST, CCM, and SOC 2.

  • Experience with scripting and infrastructure automation tools such as Python, Bash, PowerShell, or Terraform.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to technical and nontechnical audiences.

  • Experience leading projects, mentoring teammates, and influencing security decisions across teams.

We are giving you:

  • Exceptional health packages, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, plus life insurance and short- and long-term disability benefits

  • A 401(k) plan with Buildertrend matching contributions to help you plan for the future

  • Generous paid time off, 11 paid holidays, plus personal days to make sure you have time to recharge

  • Parental leave and paid sabbaticals to support you during life’s big moments

  • Volunteer time off – because giving back matters

  • Wellness program and onsite fitness center to keep you feeling your best

  • Opportunities for hybrid or remote work to give you the flexibility you need

  • Technology reimbursement to help cover costs for the tech you need to do your job from home

  • Free daily lunches when you\'re at our HQ office, plus monthly events to connect with your team
