Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

The Level 1 Help Desk Intern provides firstline technical support to end users by troubleshooting basic hardware, software, and networking issues. This position is ideal for students or earlycareer technologists seeking handson experience in IT support. The intern will work closely with experienced IT professionals to learn ticketing systems, customer service best practices, and foundational IT operations. This role is up to 40 hours per week from May through August.

  • Serve as the first point of contact for users seeking technical assistance via phone, chat, email, or ticketing system.
  • Diagnose and resolve basic technical issues involving Windows systems, and common productivity software.
  • Assist with account setup, password resets, MFA troubleshooting, VPN troubleshooting and user onboarding tasks.
  • Support the installation, configuration, and maintenance of workstations, peripherals, and approved applications.
  • Document issues, resolutions, and escalation steps in the IT ticketing system.
  • Escalate complex or unresolved issues to Level 2 support as needed
  • Assist with inventory management of IT equipment and accessories.
  • Support routine IT initiatives such as patching, asset refresh projects, and user training.
  • Maintain professionalism and deliver excellent customer service to all users.
  • Follow all IT policies, procedures, and security guidelines.
  • May include light travel to Cincinnati area sites to support staff as needed
  • Organize and document IT equipment designated for recycling
Qualifications

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled or recently completed an Associate's or Bachelor's degree program in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows 10/11, Windows Server, Backup Software
  • Basic understanding of common office software (Microsoft 365, email clients, web browsers)
  • Understanding of cybersecurity basics (phishing, password hygiene, MFA).
  • Exposure to ticketing systems from school or volunteer work
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Experience within a Healthcare environment is a plus
