Roles Available:ย ย 

  • Mechanic Apprentice
  • Plant Operator Traineeย 
  • I&C Apprenticeย 

Job Duties/Responsibilities:ย 

  • Recognizes safety hazards and follows safety guidelines for personal protection, protection of fellow workers and the protection of the public.ย 
  • Knowledgeable of environmental rules and regulations, and effectively apply them to all work situations.ย 
  • Installs, maintains tests, inspects, and repairs generating station equipment such as boilers, turbines, pumps, condensers, heat exchangers, and pressure vessels.ย 
  • Replaces bearings, packing in pumps and valves, shaft seals, sleeves, seats, and other miscellaneous parts used in plant equipment.ย 
  • Works with mechanics and skill enhancement employees to teach proper, safe use of tools and maintenance procedures.ย 
  • Perform safety related duties such as accepting work authorizations, hot work permits, confined space entry permits, etc.ย 
  • Ability to use hand tools (i.e. wrenches, screwdrivers, sledgehammers, etc).ย 
  • Ability to use shop tools (i.e. power saws, drills, drill presses, and lathes).ย 

Minimum Job Requirements:ย 

  • High school diploma or GEDย 
  • 2 years of military experience in mechanical maintenance repair, inspection, and/or maintenance of pumps, turbines, auxiliary equipment or engines OR machine shop equipment experience including inspection and preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, fabricating and diagnostics.ย 
  • Valid State Driver's Licenseย 
  • Successful applicant must receive a rating of "recommended" on the NRG Pre-Employment Skills Assessment test.ย
