Ascensus is the leading independent technology and service platform powering savings plans across America, providing products and expertise that help nearly 16 million people save for a better today and tomorrow. Our internship program offers practical corporate work experience that could lead to full-time work after graduation. We are seeking students going into their senior year, graduating in the spring of 2027.

The shift is from 9 am to 5 pm, 40 hours per week, starting in June and ending in August. This is a hybrid position in Newton, MA that pays $20 per hour.

The Data Analyst Intern will support the Retirement Operations team by helping transform data into meaningful insights that inform business decisions. This internship is designed to provide handson experience working with realworld datasets, analytics tools, and business partners while building foundational skills in data analysis, reporting, and data storytelling. The intern will work closely with experienced analysts and stakeholders and receive mentorship throughout the program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in collecting, cleaning, and validating data from internal and external sources to ensure data quality and accuracy
  • Support analysis of datasets to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for operational or business improvement
  • Help build and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations used by leadership and crossfunctional teams
  • Partner with analysts and business stakeholders to understand data needs and help define metrics and KPIs
  • Contribute to the development and documentation of data models, data dictionaries, and standard reporting definitions
  • Perform ad hoc analyses to support business questions and ongoing initiatives
  • Assist with tracking performance metrics and supporting regular reporting cycles
  • Collaborate with data engineering, IT, and analytics teams to learn how data pipelines and infrastructure are managed
  • Follow established data governance, privacy, and security standards

Skills & Qualifications

Required:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related field (or recent graduate)
  • Strong interest in data analysis, analytics, or business intelligence
  • Exposure to SQL or relational databases through coursework, projects, or internships
  • Familiarity with Excel (basic to intermediate formulas, pivot tables, data analysis concepts)
  • Ability to analyze data, think critically, and solve problems
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
  • Ability to communicate findings clearly to both technical and nontechnical audiences

Preferred:
