Job description

Position Summary
The Quality Engineer is responsible for supporting and continuously improving quality systems, manufacturing processes, product performance, and customer satisfaction. The Quality Engineer leads problem-solving initiatives, supports new product qualification, and drives continuous improvement through data analysis, process optimization, and effective quality management practices.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain and improve the Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with ISO 9001:2015, customer requirements, and internal quality standards.
  • Develop, maintain, and revise quality procedures, FMEAs, control plans, product specifications, process guidelines, inspection standards, and test methods.
  • Coordinate and lead corrective and preventive action (CAPA) activities, verifying the effectiveness of implemented corrective actions.
  • Investigate customer complaints, process deviations, nonconforming products, and manufacturing defects using structured problem-solving methodologies such as Root Cause Analysis, 5 Why, and Fishbone Analysis.
  • Participate in customer meetings, conference calls, technical reviews, site visits, and quality audits.
  • Support internal audits and external surveillance or recertification audits while ensuring compliance with quality system requirements.
  • Analyze quality metrics, process capability, yield, scrap, rework, and customer complaint data to identify trends and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain standardized color measurement, color matching, and color management practices.
  • Perform, oversee, and evaluate laboratory testing, including adhesion, abrasion resistance, color measurement, gloss measurement, surface defect evaluation, and product performance validation.
  • Coordinate raw material qualification, supplier approvals, supplier corrective actions, material returns, and supplier performance evaluations.
  • Prepare Certificates of Analysis (COAs) and customer quality documentation.
  • Support new product development, validation, and manufacturing qualification activities.
  • Work collaboratively with production, engineering, technical service, and suppliers to improve manufacturing capability, product consistency, and overall customer satisfaction.

Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, Polymer Science, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of three years of quality assurance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in film manufacturing, coatings, laminates, printing, decorative surface products, or other converting processes
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and problem-solving methodologies
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing quality systems and quality improvement methodologies.
  • Knowledge of laboratory testing methods, quality measurement equipment, and inspection techniques.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret quality data.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with external and internal partners
  • Willingness and ability to travel to customer sites, supplier facilities, and other company locations as needed.
  • Ability to stand, sit and be on the production floor, meeting all safety requirements to do so.
