Diamondback Energy is an independent oil and natural gas company headquartered in Midland, Texas. The Company also has an Accounting and IT presence in Oklahoma City, OK. We are focused on the acquisition, development, exploration, and exploitation of unconventional, onshore oil and natural gas reserves in the Permian Basin in West Texas.
The Accounting Intern will own an assigned summer project while working directly on business functions such as financial analysis, internal and external financial reporting, and operational accounting processes.


Duration: Approximately 12 weeks (May - August 2027)

Job Responsibilities:

Include, but are not limited to:

  • Work on an assigned, individual Accounting project throughout the summer, culminating in a presentation of the completed project to Diamondback's executive team
  • Develop accounting and finance skills under the supervision and guidance of an assigned, experienced mentor
  • Work directly with teams across accounting, finance, and other disciplines to experience what working in an Oil & Gas Exploration and Production company is like
  • Assist with preparing month-end financial reports, post journal entries or balance sheet reconciliations
  • Support various budget cycles, completion of regulatory filings and assist with auditor requests
  • Interface with other departments to understand accounting processes that drive key business outcomes
  • Provide quality compliance and administrative support to the department
  • Participate in intern events and philanthropic endeavors that support the Oklahoma City community

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a similar discipline
  • Must have strong interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills
  • Must be willing to work in Oklahoma City, OK for the duration of the internship
  • Must be returning to school for the Fall 2027 semester

Preferred Qualifications:

  • GPA of 3.20 or higher
  • Extracurricular achievements or prior work experience
