Do you have a passion for ensuring data consistency, accuracy, and governance across the enterprise? Do you thrive in environments where establishing a single source of truth is critical to business success? Do you enjoy working with cross-functional teams to define and enforce data standards that drive operational excellence? Are you someone who believes that well-governed master data is the foundation of sound business decisions? Does driving enterprise-wide data quality and stewardship align with your career aspirations?

If so, a role on the Multifamily Data Product Management team could be a fit for you!

This role will help to transform the way in which Freddie Mac manages and governs its critical data assets. The Product Owner – Master Data Management develops and drives the product vision and strategy for MDM capabilities, serving as the bridge between business stakeholders and technology teams to ensure authoritative, consistent, and trusted master data across the Multifamily division.

Specifically, this role will support the product management of Master Data Management program delivery execution. These capabilities are critical to driving Data Modernization, ensuring golden record integrity through standardized, governed, and high-quality master data.

Your Impact:

  • Set ambitious and clear product vision for MDM capabilities and communicate the strategy effectively to key stakeholders and the rest of the team
  • Own the end-to-end MDM product strategy from inception, defining business value through improved data quality, reduced redundancy, and trusted data assets in production
  • Ensure alignment of MDM product features and stories and prioritize user stories in line with the MDM and Data Product Roadmap
  • Continuously improve the backlog with the team, ensuring all items related to data matching, merging, survivorship rules, and data stewardship workflows are clearly described, estimated, and prioritized
  • Ensure customer-driven design considering data consumer pain points, data quality metrics, and usability test results, using market & industry knowledge as well as continual research, to deliver well-positioned MDM solutions
  • Define and refine master data domains (e.g., counterparty, property, etc) and their associated governance models
  • Drive sprint and release plans together with the Scrum Coach and organizational technology teams
  • Work with Development Lead to build modular & reusable MDM solutions, including match/merge logic, hierarchy management, and data stewardship capabilities
  • Define and monitor data quality KPIs, stewardship SLAs, and master data health metrics to drive continuous improvement

Qualifications:

  • Understanding of the mortgage industry, preferably commercial or multifamily real estate and their underlying loan lifecycles
  • 5+ years of Product Owner experience
  • 5+ years of data-related experience with a focus on master data management, data delivery, and data governance disciplines
  • Experience with MDM concepts including golden record creation, match/merge/survivorship rules, data stewardship, hierarchy management, and reference data management
  • Experience delivering large, complex change management projects that involve interfacing with multiple teams, especially projects involving data governance frameworks and master data standardization
  • Strong experience with hands-on data analysis skills to support data profiling, data quality assessment, data mapping, data querying, and duplicate identification
  • Experience working in an Agile methodology team and agile-related tools
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving thought processes, particularly around data quality root cause analysis
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, including ability to present to management and expertly facilitate meetings with data stewards, data owners, and technical teams
  • Experience with data-focused technologies such as relational, non-relational, on-prem, and off-prem databases, as well as MDM-specific architectures (registry, consolidation, coexistence, centralized)

Keys to Success in this Role:

  • Ability to leverage product-facing soft-skills and technical MDM/data analysis hard skills simultaneously and regularly
  • Understanding the priorities of Data Modernization and how master data governance underpins their operational processes to identify, design, and define solutions that can be effectively implemented to deliver value across the technology organization
  • Understanding the MF modernization strategy and applying it to the prioritization of the MDM product backlog, balancing quick wins in data quality with long-term architectural goals
  • Representing the Multifamily Data team as the principal contact and subject matter expert for Master Data Management in the Enterprise Business Model and Data Modernization efforts
  • Interact with data consumers, data stewards, data owners, and internal technology customers to obtain feedback on MDM solutions and design to validate and refine value, or pivot to something new
  • Highly motivated, adaptive, persistent, and self-driven
  • Ability to work independently and confidently as well as across multiple teams and disciplines, particularly bridging business domain expertise with technical MDM implementation teams
