Job description

Plastic Surgery/Reconstruction Physician

Lee Health Cancer Institute, located in Fort Myers, Florida, is seeking two plastic reconstructive surgeons to build a comprehensive oncology reconstruction program.

The Lee Health Cancer Institute is a state-of-the-art, 100,000-square-foot outpatient facility and a leader in comprehensive cancer care. We focus on medical, surgical, and radiation oncology and palliative care for all cancer types, managing approximately 8,400 analytic cases annually. Our facility includes a 43-chair chemotherapy infusion center, advanced imaging capabilities, specialty lab services, and a diverse team of healthcare professionals, including nurse navigators, genetic counselors, social workers, dietitians, and financial counselors. Our inpatients are cared for in a 72-bed oncology hospital at the Gulf Coast Medical Center.

Lee Health is a non-profit organization featuring 16,000 employees and 92 practice locations across Southwest Florida. With a strong referral base and growing patient demand for reconstructive services, our Physician Group consists of 1,200 primary and specialty care providers. Our health system includes four acute care hospitals and two specialty hospitals, providing 1,812 beds. In the Fall 2024 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Survey, we earned an "A" rating.

This program aims to establish a premier facility specializing in advanced reconstructive plastic surgery. Ideal candidates will have experience in a comprehensive range of cancer patient services and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including surgical, medical, and radiation oncologists. Candidates will participate in on-call coverage for reconstructive patients. This role offers a mix of surgical cases and ample opportunities for professional growth. Your visionary leadership and dedication will be crucial in building a team that supports the delivery of world-class, patient-centered care.

The ideal candidate will have graduated from an accredited allopathic or osteopathic medical school, completed an ACGME-accredited plastic surgery program, and a fellowship in microvascular reconstruction. A passion for and skill in microvascular reconstruction, excellent teamwork abilities, and a commitment to patient care are essential. Candidates should also be board-certified or board-eligible in plastic surgery and eligible for medical licensure in Florida. While we prefer experienced surgeons, recent graduates will be considered. We seek individuals with exceptional surgical skills, strong leadership qualities, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Successful candidates will receive a highly competitive salary, including wRVU-based incentives without a cap, a sign-on bonus, and relocation assistance. Additional benefits include generous time off, full health, dental, and vision insurance, CME funding, and coverage for professional dues. Lee Health also participates in the federal public service loan repayment program.

Located in Fort Myers, our Cancer Institute enjoys year-round warm weather and offers countless outdoor activities, including boating, golfing, fishing, and beautiful hiking trails. The city features diverse dining options, shopping venues, cultural activities, historical sites, and year-round festivals. Fort Myers is conveniently situated near Sanibel Island, Captiva, Naples, and three major Florida cities—Orlando, Tampa, and Miami. The nearby Fort Myers International Airport provides numerous direct flights and connections. The area also boasts a low cost of living, no state income tax, and a strong housing market, making it an attractive place to live and work.
