Job description

BASIC FUNCTIONS:

The Speech Pathologist shall provide Speech Pathology services to a pediatric population in a school setting. The Speech Pathologist will identify students with communication disabilities; plan and implement appropriate treatment to minimize adverse impact on student educational success and recommend treatment plans.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide therapy in multiple schools within Hammond

• Perform evaluations within the school setting and work as a member of a Multi-disciplinary Team to determine programming for students with special needs

• Write Individual Education Plans using Indiana IEP program

• Perform all duties as Teacher of Record for students whose only disability is speech/language

• Collaborate with school staff to ensure the success of students with communication disabilities in the school setting

• File Medicaid reports and to accurately report therapy services to Medicaid

• Maintain up-to-date service entry for electronic Medicaid billing

• Provide all services according to Article 7

• Interpret medical reports within the scope of the pathologist's licensure

• Maintain all files and reports appropriately per School City of Hammond policies

• If requested, will supervise a Speech Language Assistant or a CFY intern if qualified by ASHA

• Will participate in workshops, in services and other meetings as requested

• Other duties as requested by Director of special Education

REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum of Master's Degree

• Valid Speech Pathologist license from the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE)

• Valid Indiana Professional Licensing Agency (IPLA)

• Hold Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) or be ASHA eligible for Clinical Fellowship Year

• Experience with writing Individual Education Plans

• Proficient computer skills
