Senior Network Engineer (IT/OT)
Location: Johns Creek, GA (100% Onsite – 5 Days/Week)
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire
Compensation: Up to $130,000 based on experience
Travel: 3–4 short domestic trips per year (1–2 nights each)
Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Network Engineer with a strong background in enterprise networking and cybersecurity to support a growing manufacturing environment. This role is heavily focused on enterprise routing and switching, next-generation firewalls, SD-WAN, and Security Operations Center (SOC) operations.
Required Qualifications
- 5–8+ years of enterprise network engineering experience
- Strong knowledge of enterprise routing and switching, including BGP, OSPF, VLANs, MPLS, VPNs, TCP/IP, and Layer 2/Layer 3 networking
- Hands-on SD-WAN deployment, support, and troubleshooting experience
- Experience administering Palo Alto and/or Fortinet firewall environments
- Strong troubleshooting methodology with excellent analytical and logical problem-solving skills
- Experience working within or closely supporting a Security Operations Center (SOC)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong documentation and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently while mentoring junior technical staff
- Willingness to learn new technologies and support a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Candidates with advanced Fortinet and Palo Alto certifications will receive strong preference.
Highly Preferred Qualifications
- Fortinet NSE4 or NSE7 Certification
- Palo Alto PCNSA or PCNSE Certification
- Hands-on Security Operations Center (SOC) experience
- Extensive enterprise routing and switching experience
- Strong SD-WAN design, implementation, and troubleshooting experience
- Hands-on administration of Palo Alto and/or Fortinet next-generation firewalls
Nice to Have
- Microsoft Azure networking and cloud infrastructure
- AWS networking and cloud infrastructure
- Manufacturing or Industrial/OT networking experience
- Network automation using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or Ansible
- Cisco certifications (CCNA, CCNP)
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and support enterprise routing, switching, VLANs, VPNs, wireless networking, and SD-WAN environments
- Configure, administer, and troubleshoot Palo Alto and/or Fortinet next-generation firewalls
- Support Security Operations Center (SOC) activities, including incident response, threat analysis, vulnerability remediation, and root cause investigations
- Design and maintain secure enterprise network architectures while enforcing network security best practices
- Lead Tier 2 and Tier 3 troubleshooting of complex enterprise networking issues
- Support Azure and hybrid cloud networking environments
- Automate network administration tasks using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar scripting tools
- Create and maintain detailed network documentation, standards, and operational procedures
- Mentor junior network administrators and engineers while providing technical leadership
- Support network integrations related to acquisitions, infrastructure upgrades, and manufacturing site expansions
- Collaborate with infrastructure, security, cloud, and operations teams to improve network performance, reliability, and security
