Background

Protect Our Winters (POW) was founded in 2007 by legendary snowboarder Jeremy Jones with a simple and powerful idea: the outdoor community can be one of the most influential forces for climate action. Today, POW is a leading 501(c)(3) nonprofit that unites athletes, brands, scientists, creatives, and everyday adventurers into the "Outdoor State," 181 million people who love the outdoors and want clean air, clean water, and a healthy planet.

We know what's at stake. Climate change is already reshaping the places we live and play, fueled by fossil fuel pollution and stalled by policy inaction. POW exists to change that. Through bold campaigns and cross-partisan coalitions, we defend what we love, build what we need, and shift who decides. If you love the outdoors and want to help solve the challenge of our lifetime, join us on the climb!

The Opportunity

We are looking for an organized, enthusiastic Events Intern to support POW's Events & Merchandise Team during our busiest season. Working 10-15 hours per week, you'll help execute Stoke the Vote campaign events, community activations and event communication that build brand awareness, engage the outdoor community, and inspire climate action. This role offers hands-on experience in nonprofit event production, campaign activations, and community engagement. Candidates should be organized, self-motivated, and available to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Description of Responsibilities

  • Support planning and execution of Stoke the Vote events and community activations.
  • Assist with event setup, teardown, transportation, and on-site logistics.
  • Prepare and organize event materials, signage, merchandise, and supplies.
  • Represent POW at community events, festivals, and partner activations.
  • Support with event communications by adding listings to the website and sending geo-targeted newsletters to our community.

Skills, experience, and qualifications that will help you be successful:

  • Based in the Boulder/Denver area with a reliable vehicle and valid driver's license.
  • Available to work evenings and weekends throughout the internship.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience with events or nonprofits is a plus.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
  • Comfortable using Wordpress, or another website hosting platform.
  • Comfortable using Mailchimp, or another email automation platform.

Note: This job description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, responsibilities, or qualifications associated with the job and is subject to change in POW's sole and absolute discretion.
