@Orchard LLC is seeking Junior Programmer Analysts to support a highly visible NOAA Satellite Applications and Research program. This position is contingent upon contract award.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily operations of existing satellite data processing systems, ensuring continuous data flow and rapid troubleshooting of technical bottlenecks.
  • Support design and develop activities for new data processing and delivery systems, scaling existing architecture to meet evolving customer needs and resource availability.
  • Work closely with Senior Scientists to support the development and integration of new data products.
  • Actively promote the use of ocean and coastal satellite data for downstream decision-making and real-world applications.
  • Maintain and enhance the programโ€™s Drupal-based website to ensure information is accessible and up to date.
  • Author comprehensive technical and non-technical documentation for all system deliveries and workflows.
  • Effectively leverage AI tools to automate workflows and increase operational efficiency.
  • Manage helpdesk inquiries, providing timely resolutions to user issues.
  • Support new employee onboarding and contribute to other mission-critical tasks as directed by the Lead Scientist.
Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marine Science or Engineering or related. A masterโ€™s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of data analysis experience. Strong preference for applicants with prior experience in the field of satellite, radar, or remote sensing.
  • Experience developing data processing and analysis using programming languages such as Python, FORTRAN, JavaScript, Perl, shell script, and MATLAB.
  • Must have programming skills with at least one of the following languages:
    • MATLAB
    • Pyton
    • FORTRAN
    • IDL
    • Perl/Shell Scripting
  • Knowledge of common earth science data formats, metadata, and applications.
  • Familiarity with Cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical requirements to non-technical audiences.
