Join us for a rewarding Outreach Internship designed for graduating high school and college students interested in gaining hands-on experience in community health this summer. Located in the beautiful Columbia River Gorge, One Community Health is a Federally Qualified Health Center providing Medical, Dental, Behavioral Health, and Community Health services across Oregon and Washington.
This is a full-time, summer position primarily based at our Hood River, Oregon clinic. Program dates are June through August/September (flexible based on school schedules). No prior clinical experience is required.
What Youll Do:
- Visit local orchards to provide health resources and education
- Support and help facilitate community outreach events
- Assist with preventative dental outreach services
- Participate in health fairs and clinics, helping with registration, answering patient questions, and supporting administrative tasks
- Complete an intern project, such as developing outreach education materials (e.g., fotonovelas, socio-dramas, plain language materials) using Canva, or creating environmental health education resources (e.g., pesticides, multi-family housing topics)
Required Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Customer service experience
- Passion for community health and health equity
- Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends for events
- Ability to travel to multiple OCH clinic sites; valid drivers license required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Interest in healthcare or working in a Federally Qualified Health Center
- Previous internship, volunteer, or project experience
- Familiarity with local community resources
Compensation:
- Hourly/Non-Exempt: $20.00-$20.75 per hour
- Bilingual Differential: Additionally, we offer $0.75 per hour as compensation for bilingual proficiency in both English and Spanish.
