Job description

Join us for a rewarding Outreach Internship designed for graduating high school and college students interested in gaining hands-on experience in community health this summer. Located in the beautiful Columbia River Gorge, One Community Health is a Federally Qualified Health Center providing Medical, Dental, Behavioral Health, and Community Health services across Oregon and Washington.

This is a full-time, summer position primarily based at our Hood River, Oregon clinic. Program dates are June through August/September (flexible based on school schedules). No prior clinical experience is required.

What Youll Do:

  • Visit local orchards to provide health resources and education
  • Support and help facilitate community outreach events
  • Assist with preventative dental outreach services
  • Participate in health fairs and clinics, helping with registration, answering patient questions, and supporting administrative tasks
  • Complete an intern project, such as developing outreach education materials (e.g., fotonovelas, socio-dramas, plain language materials) using Canva, or creating environmental health education resources (e.g., pesticides, multi-family housing topics)

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Customer service experience
  • Passion for community health and health equity
  • Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends for events
  • Ability to travel to multiple OCH clinic sites; valid drivers license required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Interest in healthcare or working in a Federally Qualified Health Center
  • Previous internship, volunteer, or project experience
  • Familiarity with local community resources

Compensation:

  • Hourly/Non-Exempt: $20.00-$20.75 per hour
  • Bilingual Differential: Additionally, we offer $0.75 per hour as compensation for bilingual proficiency in both English and Spanish.
