Job Description
In order to be considered for this position candidate must be serving permanently in the title of Electrical Engineering Intern, or must have filed for the Electrical Engineering Intern, Exam #6047.
The NYCDOT seeks an Electrical Engineering Intern to join the Traffic Management Center unit within the Traffic Operations divisions. The unit is 24/7 operations including holidays and weekends. The selected candidate will be assigned to a specific shift, under general supervision of the TMC shift supervisor will perform highly technical engineering work including monitoring and troubleshooting problems related to the maintenance of 13,900 traffic signals, working with maintenance contractors via radio communication to troubleshoot traffic signal failures to restore proper operations that are critical to ensure proper flow of traffic and the safety of the public. Troubleshoot of the wireless communication used in conjunction with traffic signals and coordinate with the service provider and their sub-contractor, check the status and the health of the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) equipment, prepare and provide report to management and to in-house maintenance shops, provide technical support. Utilize the agency video surveillance system and other vehicle detection technology tools to manage traffic incidents citywide including monitoring work zones, severe weather conditions that may impede traffic flow and coordinate the response to traffic incidents with first responders and other city and state agencies in the metropolitan region. The individuals may work different shifts, nights, weekends and holidays and will report directly to the shit supervisor.
ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING INTERN - 20302
Qualifications
1- A baccalaureate degree in electrical or electronic engineering from an accredited college; or
2- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in electrical or electronic engineering technology and two years of full-time satisfactory experience in electrical engineering work.
