Job description

Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.

As a US Expansion Planning Engineer, you will be a key contact in preparing for production in a new high volume memory manufacturing facility in Boise, Idaho, calculating and presenting capital impacts of processes that will be introduced at the site to senior leaders in manufacturing and R&D.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with partners to drive future tool and process roadmaps, and calculate network capacity impacts of process changes
  • Complete financial analyses before new capital equipment is purchased, including metrics optimization, process flexibility, capacity sharing and equipment repurpose
  • Handle site tool utilization and capacity planning models to optimize the site’s deployed capital
  • Apply new (e.g. Python, SQL, R) and traditional (Excel, VBA) methods to improve and automate tasks in the planning system/models
  • Design, track, and communicate capital change proposals through formal presentations to manufacturing senior leaders utilizing required reporting tools (Power BI and Tableau)
  • Optimize capacity of equipment base and lead site- and tool-level optimization studies for efficiency improvement
  • Build and implement tools to audit manufacturing capital efficiency and identify cost reduction opportunities
  • Lead and communicate improvement opportunities and implementation plans to all relevant levels and functions in manufacturing
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering
  • Minimum of 2 years experience with semiconductor capacity planning and capital equipment planning required
  • Minimum 2 years of experience using Python and SQL to craft and develop visualization and web-based reporting metrics, influencing data driven insights in a semiconductor manufacturing environment
  • Semiconductor experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in a business-related or quantitative field
  • Experience turning sophisticated and ambiguous problem statements into structured solutions while working in a highly multi-functional environment
  • Proven ability to successfully analyze and interpret data, drawing conclusions, recommending actions, and reporting results across diverse technical and non-technical groups
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently while maintaining a high degree of organization and control and establishing successful working relationships with cross-functional teams
  • Experience and/or interest in developing Agentic AI workflows into current or future processes
