Job description

Summary/ Objective

Provide flight, simulator, and ground instruction in accordance with FAA and SFS regulations and procedures. Maintain records, and ensure that course standards, training requirements, and objectives are met for each student customer in each course.

Essential Functions

  • Perform those flight instructor duties authorized by the Federal Aviation regulations in accordance with the approved Syllabi's.
  • Ensure all students understand and practice all aspects of SFS's Training procedures and policies including Safety Standards.
  • Regularly schedule each assigned student to ensure on time progress through the respective course and immediately inform supervisor of any delays in training or unsatisfactory progress.
  • Responsible for accurately maintaining all appropriate records to include student training record and student logbook.
  • Ensure that course standards, training requirements, and objectives are met by all assigned students as stipulated in the applicable Course Syllabus.
  • Initiate stage check and End-of-Course requests for assigned students. Responsible for the timely course completion of all flight students assigned.
  • Monitor the maintenance condition of the training aircraft and inform SFS maintenance personnel of any items of concern.
  • Recommend curriculum and courseware improvements when appropriate.
  • File incident reports as necessary to report any observed safety violations or situations that may affect the safety of flight.
  • Attend administrative, standardization, in-service training, and instructor and project development meetings as assigned.
  • Assist with special projects to include but not limited to: Changes to SFS FS manual, the associated materials and participate in work-shops including FAA meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Competencies

  • FAA Certified Flight Instructor, Airplane Single-Engine Land, Instrument Airplane.
  • Aircraft piloting skills including familiarity with and ability to perform required flight maneuvers and procedures.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply effective instructional technique in the classroom and in flight.
  • Knowledge of appropriate Federal Aviation Regulations and Company Policies and Procedures.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in fast-paced and noisy environment while exercising sound judgment at all times.

Required Education and Experience

  • Valid CFI Certificate
  • Valid CFI-I Certificate
  • Must hold a current FAA 1st or 2nd Class Medical Certificate.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
