Building Maintenance Worker (Intern)
Facility maintenance focuses on the ongoing care and upkeep of a building and its systems. Key tasks include:
- Preventative Maintenance - Regular inspections and servicing of equipment, HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and other infrastructure to avoid unexpected breakdowns. Scheduling routine tasks such as filter replacements, lubrication, and system calibrations.
- Repairs and Troubleshooting - Fixing issues such as leaks, electrical faults, structural damages, or equipment malfunctions. Responding to emergency situations like power outages, water damage, or system failures.
- General Upkeep - Cleaning and sanitizing facilities to maintain hygiene and aesthetic standards. Landscaping and exterior care, including snow removal and lawn maintenance. Maintaining safety features like fire extinguishers, alarm systems, and emergency exits.
- Compliance and Safety - Ensuring the facility meets building codes, occupational health and safety regulations, and environmental standards. Conducting regular safety drills and system checks (e.g., fire alarms, sprinklers).
