Who Are We Looking For?

The Engineering team is seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer, with experience in Product feature development and Architecture who can be effective on all levels of our Engineering stack, and is willing to play all necessary roles such as architect, tech lead, code reviewer, Agile coach, and mentor.

In short, we want to bring experienced Engineers in to make key decisions regarding technology, architecture, and software.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain optimal software supporting Product initiatives and features using Typescript
  • Establish and enforce best practices in code to build sophisticated software that adheres to common programming principles
  • Work with stakeholders including the Executive, Product and Operations teams to support their Product development needs
  • Review requirements and translate into an executable development plan, breaking down projects to enable iterative and agile implementation
  • Provide production support and train junior engineers
  • Proactively drive the vision for architecture and design across multiple product verticals
  • Manage the delivery of high impact development solutions

  • 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer
  • Experience with Typescript and Node.js
  • Experience with Python
  • Proficiency with AI tools such as Claude and Cursor
  • Experience scaling and managing 3+ person teams

  • Experience mentoring more junior engineers

This role will be based in our New York City, Austin, King of Prussia, or Scottsdale office, and will be part of Vestwell's hybrid in-office operation. For exceptional candidates, we're open to hiring this role fully remote.

The expected base salary range for this position is $185K - $200K base. This position is eligible to participate in the Company Bonus Pool and is eligible to receive new hire equity in the Company. Please note that salary bands are based on NY and other similar metro areas and may differ based on where the role is ultimately hired.
