Job description

Overview
Kimley-Horn's West Palm Beach, Florida (FL) office is seeking a Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with 2+ years of experience to join their Dry Utilities team to work on electric and communications distribution projects! This is not a remote position.
Responsibilities
  • Work on a variety of projects, such as undergrounding overhead utilities, coordinating electric and communications service for new developments, streetlighting, and more
  • Assist with project planning, design, permitting, and construction administration
  • Utilize technical software programs such as AutoCAD Civil 3D and ArcGIS Pro on a regular basis to analyze, produce, and review deliverables for our clients
  • Attend meetings and communicate with clients, government entities, and various regulatory agencies to fulfill any regulations and requirements relating to projects
  • You will work closely and collaboratively with other industry leading professionals, various jurisdictions, and contractors
  • In addition to strong technical experience, other responsibilities will include coordinating work with other team members
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to contribute to the successful completion of assigned projects
  • Assist in monitoring project progress, budgets, and schedules
  • As a critical member of the team, you will perform a variety of engineering tasks and will receive both on-the-job and formal training as well as mentorship and exposure to plan production, project financials, and client interaction

Qualifications
  • 2+ years experience with a civil engineering design firm
  • Bachelors or Masters from an ABET accredited university in the field of Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering
  • "Engineer-In-Training" or "Engineering Intern" certification (or ability to obtain within 12 months)
  • Experience using AutoCAD and Civil 3D is a plus
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate technical thoughts clearly and concisely
  • Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines
  • Detail-oriented with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment
  • Ability to work independently and as a team
