Video Editor & Social Intern

About Us

"A Conversation with Carl" is a variety podcast covering everything from politics to travel, health, the latest in space exploration, and more. It is hosted by former CBS News Producer, Carl Leibowitz.

Role Overview

We are seeking a creative, highly motivated student intern to own our end-to-end video pipeline and social media distribution.This is a remote/flexible role perfect for a student who excels at both visual storytelling and social media platform strategy. You will take our raw footage, turn it into compelling long-form and short-form assets, and strategically deploy them to grow our audience on YouTube, Instagram, and X.

This is an hourly contractor role. We will determine the exact hours once we find the right candidate. Hours will be a minimum of 5 per week and currently a maximum of 10 per week, with flexibility should business needs shift. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Video Editing: Edit long-form horizontal video per week and cut it into engaging vertical shorts/reels.
  • Asset Creation: Design clean, click-worthy YouTube thumbnails and select trending audio tracks for Instagram Reels.
  • Platform Optimization: Write compelling, platform-native copy, text hooks, and SEO descriptions tailored for YouTube, Instagram, and X
  • Social Scheduling: Use scheduling tools to ensure consistent, timely publishing across all active channels
  • Performance Review: Review basic analytics weekly to determine which video styles and hooks are driving the highest engagement

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program (Journalism, Media Production, Communications, Marketing, or Film preferred)
  • Proficiency in video editing software 
  • Strong understanding of social media algorithms, formatting constraints, and audience trends (specifically YouTube, Instagram, and X)
  • Reliable high-speed internet connection and a computer capable of processing

Details

  • Compensation: $17/hour. This is a contractor position that will be reviewed quarterly for fit, qualifications and business needs. Weekly hours will be no less than 5 and no more than 10 initially with flexibility should business needs shift
  • College Credit: We will gladly collaborate with your academic department to complete all necessary paperwork and evaluations for course credit, provided we receive the necessary materials and contacts
