Job description

Responsibilities

Peraton is delivering advanced mission planning, digital engineering, and commandandcontrol capabilities supporting the U.S. Government's space communications enterprise. Our team uses modern MBSE practices to translate mission needs into precise, traceable, and verifiable technical requirements across a complex, multisystem environment.

As a SR Systems Engineer, you will support the technical planning, development, and integration of missionplanning and systemsengineering artifacts that advance program goals and operational outcomes. You will help shape requirements, architectures, interface definitions, and engineering products that ensure system capabilities are aligned, traceable, and technically sound across the broader system landscape. In this role, you will collaborate with crossfunctional teams, contribute to disciplined engineering processes, and ensure solutions remain consistent with program objectives and stakeholder priorities.

What you'll do:

  • Provide feedback and refinement for missionlevel specifications in coordination with the system integrator and engineering teams.
  • Support development of requirements, architectures, use cases, technical analyses, interface definitions, and systemlevel roadmaps.
  • Define componentlevel requirements derived from operational needs, system behaviors, and stakeholder priorities.
  • Lead or support generation and implementation of Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
  • Contribute to the creation of requirementverification artifacts for missionplanning and component specifications.
  • Work with data, AI/ML, software, and systemsengineering teams to integrate required data sources, model inputs, outputs, assumptions, and validation methods.
  • Identify technical risks, dependencies, integration challenges, sequencing concerns, and capability gaps across systemengineering activities.
  • Ensure systemsengineering efforts remain aligned with program objectives, MBSE practices, CTO advanced analytics initiatives, and stakeholder needs.
  • Support engineering activities related to ground systems and Agilebased development workflows.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Associates degree and 14+ years of experience in a Systems Engineering related field; OR bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cloud Computing, or related field and 12+ years of experience in a Systems Engineering related field; OR a master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cloud Computing, or related field and 10+ years of experience in a systems engineering related field; OR a Ph.D. and 7+ years of experience. Additional four (4) years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
  • This position requires the candidate possess an active TS/SCI. The candidate must maintain the clearance
  • Ability to lead systemsengineering activities such as requirements development, architecture definition, interface specification, and technical planning.
  • Ability to develop and interpret complex Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and support crosssystem interface integration.
  • Ability to evaluate and address systemlevel risks, dependencies, and integration challenges in multicomponent or distributed systems environments.
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including software, AI/ML, data, MBSE, verification, and integration engineering.
  • Experience supporting systemsengineering activities for groundsystem or missionsystem environments.
  • Direct experience with an Agile software development lifecycle

Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with ModelBased Systems Engineering tools or practices.
  • Experience working in multicontractor or thirdparty integration and test environments.
  • Experience supporting Agile development workflows.
  • Ability to prepare and present technical designs and recommendations to engineering stakeholders.

Target Salary Range$146,000 - $234,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
