Civil Engineering Intern | Nashua (NH) and Burlington (MA)

This posting is for Summer 2027 Internship opportunities.
IMEG is hiring a Civil Engineering Intern in Nashua, New Hampshire or Burlington, MA. Over 10-12 weeks, you will work closely with a team of experienced engineers and consultants on civil engineering analysis, design, field inspections, writing reports, preparing permit applications, and site drainage and grading designs while gaining hands-on experience in the field.
You will support work within project budgets, collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations, and contribute to municipal and environmental projects across the region. This role offers paid, mentored experience with real project work while helping deliver resilient, environmentally responsible infrastructure.

What You'll Do
  • Assist with civil engineering analysis, design, field inspections, report writing, permit applications, and site drainage and grading design work
  • Support design portions of projects according to code and IMEG standards
  • Research commercially available equipment and project resources
  • Help maintain client relations, project design notebooks, and permanent record documentation
  • Coordinate design and schedule information with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment-supplier partners
  • Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project design progress
  • Review project documents for accuracy and completeness before final check
  • Assist with preparation and issuance of addendum information
  • Conduct periodic job site observations and other services required by the contract services agreement
  • Work within project budgets and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations

What You'll Bring (Required)
  • Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent required
  • May be required to assist with field duties such as surveying and materials testing
  • Strong interest in design consulting
  • Skill in the use of Microsoft Office programs, CAD software and BIM
  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

Preferred
  • Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred

Range: $22.00-$24.00 per hour
The range listed above represents the base pay IMEG reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position in the work location identified above at the time of posting. For positions available in multiple locations, the minimums and maximums may vary based on work location. Individual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors, including the candidate's experience, education, knowledge, skills, abilities, and licensure and certifications.
