Job description

Qualis LLC is seeking a Deep Space Logistics Engineering Support Specialist at NASA Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Merritt Island, Florida. The Deep Space Logistics Engineering Support Specialist will provide technical expertise and insight, surveillance, systems engineering, analysis, and mission operations support to the Gateway Deep Space Logistics (DSL) Project at NASA KSC. This role will focus primarily on supporting NASA’s GLS IDIQ contract, delivering end-to-end services for cargo and payload delivery to cislunar destinations, including the Lunar Gateway, in line with the DSL Insight and Surveillance Plan.

Essential Duties:

  • Mission-Direct Support: Evaluate GLS Provider’s designs, analyses, testing, manufacturing, assembly, integration, verification, validation, and mission preparations for compliance with program requirements and industry best practices. Perform independent analyses, participate in engineering and logistics reviews, and present evaluations for requirements verification closure and mission readiness.
  • Fleet Management: Assess spacecraft and ground systems throughout the GLS mission lifecycle, conduct model-based systems engineering (MBSE) activities, and provide CAD/Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing capability. Support independent verification/validation of CAD and engineering models, failure trend evaluation, and participation in anomaly investigations.
  • Integrated System Performance: Develop and simulate vehicle and subsystem mathematical models using defensible, validated codes. Collaborate with program and project teams to ensure hardware qualification and test adequacy based on analytical findings.
  • Exploratory Concepts: Support the development of new mission concepts and services beyond the Gateway, leveraging current expertise to advance NASA’s exploration objectives.
  • (Optional) Project Management & Administrative Support: May include risk management coordination, logistics board/review management, documentation maintenance, administrative, integration, and coordination services as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Systems Engineering (including MBSE)
  • CAD design and analysis (2D/3D)
  • Expertise in at least one or more of the following disciplines: Avionics, Electrical, Propulsion, Mechanical, Thermal, Software, Quality, Safety, EMC/EMI, RF, Environmental Control, Human Systems
  • Technical writing and report generation
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with ability to interact with NASA, GLS Providers, international partners, and other stakeholders
  • Familiarity with NASA project documentation, systems, and risk management tools (e.g., ARM, ERBIS, SharePoint)
  • Analytical problem-solving and troubleshooting in a complex engineering environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or related technical field
  • Experience with deep space, cislunar, or ISS logistics operations
  • Experience supporting NASA or other governmental space programs
