Job description

The area of responsibility for the Intern is to assist with the ongoing maintenance and the evolution of ICCU's Business Intelligence ecosystem. This includes enterprise data warehouse data and related components, SharePoint, PowerBI reporting, and associated applications. The intern position will work directly with the Data Engineering team to help ensure that ICCU's data warehouse and Business Intelligence systems are delivering value and evolving by implementation of best practices.
*This position could be located in Chubbuck or Meridian*
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Data Engineering team with day-to-day tasks to gain hands-on experience in transforming raw data into usable information for business decision-making.
  • Support the design, development, and maintenance of data warehouse ETL/ELT pipelines under the guidance of the Engineering team.
  • Help build and maintain structured data models and contribute to the development of the enterprise data warehouse.
  • Use foundational technical skills in SQL, data modeling, and data warehousing concepts to support ongoing engineering projects.
  • Work with modern data technologies-including Azure Data Lakehouse, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, SQL Server, Oracle, GIT, and Power BI-while learning best practices from the engineering team.
  • Draft and update technical documentation, including procedures, data flow diagrams, and system notes, in alignment with data architecture standards.
  • Participate in identifying opportunities for process improvements, such as automating manual workflows or optimizing data delivery.
  • Support the data analytics team by helping develop and test data models, reports, and dashboards using Databricks SQL and Microsoft Power BI.
  • Participate in weekly meetings and work in a structured agile development cycle alongside the Data Engineering IT team to discuss projects and issues to be

  • Gain experience working with teams and under general supervision.
  • Gain and refine interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with coworkers, department heads, and various levels of management.

Qualifications:
Attending accredited college or university working towards an IT degree in Data Science, Software Development, or related IT field. Success driven with a respectable GPA and an anticipated graduation within two years. Able to dedicate 15-20 hours a week while maintaining a responsible balance between school and work schedules. Candidates will be selected based on their qualifications and their ability to work at the Pocatello campus and have the desire to build a lasting career in IT. Ability to always maintain the confidentiality of the Credit Union and member records.

High level of professionalism with a demonstrated ability to work well with others. Quick learner, motivated individual with natural analytical, problem solving, and root cause analysis skills. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and with written communication required, including presentation of basic concepts in easily understood ways. Ability to confidently interact at multiple levels in the organization and lead cross-departmental team projects. Attention to detail on many concurrent projects and initiatives. A demonstrated cooperative and positive attitude toward members and other Credit Union staff. Ability to work with minimal supervision.
