Intern, Communications Design

The Intern, Communications Design under the Communications Team, supports various teams across Elevate while gaining administration skills. The Intern should be familiar with Adobe Create Suite - InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator. Experience with Illustration, logo and icon design is a plus. The intern must be detail-oriented with an emphasis on quality work products. A successful candidate has strong analytical skills, a willingness to be a flexible team player and excellent communication skills.

The Intern for Communications Design reports directly to the Creative Lead. This position is based in Chicago and is hybrid remote.

Responsibilities
  • Communicate clearly, concisely, and in a timely manner with the Communications and Marketing teams and other program managers and colleagues.
  • Support the Senior Art Director with design production to meet project and client timelines.
  • Communicate daily with team members on project status and deliverables.
  • Support with archival processes for designs, photographs, and video.
  • Help edit graphics, video, audio, and other materials to meet Elevate visual brands.
  • Strong understanding of typography, color theory, and other fundamental design principles.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Skills
  • Enrollment in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program is preferred but relevant lived experience is also eligible.
  • Must submit a portfolio that includes examples of digital and print work.
  • Ability to self-manage tasks and deadlines, sometimes with competing priorities.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • A demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and coordination skills.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite software.

Terms of Service

Internships at Elevate are paid positions for current college or graduate students or recent college graduates. The usual time commitment is for ten weeks, 40 hours/week but there is some flexibility with this internship. The Communications Intern is paid $20/hour.

If interns are handling confidential data, they will be asked to comply with security policies, as required. In addition, all policy interns are asked to comply with a confidentiality and nondisclosure agreement.
