An Off-Campus Work-Study Position - MUST have a Work-Study Award
Position Summary:
Under general supervision of the Rentals Manager the Rentals Work Study Intern is responsible for upholding
Explora's customer service standards while booking rental services for internal and external clients. The Rentals
Work Study Intern is responsible for supporting the operations and logistics for rentals at Explora; such as, setting
up and tearing down for events. The Rentals Work Study Intern will work closely with the Rentals Manager and
Administrative Assistant, Rentals Assistant, Event Staff, and the Facilities Department. The Rentals Work Study
Intern will be the point of contact for event vendors, assisting with setting up, tearing down, and closing exhibits.
The Rentals Work Study Intern will serve as a backup for the Rentals Assistant in assisting with equipment
maintenance. This position regularly requires work on evenings and weekends as needed and determined by the
Rentals Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provides logistical and operational assistance for rentals, to include:
o Overseeing the setup and tear down for events in accordance with Work Orders
o Participate in security operations by assisting with fire alarms and with emergency situations
o Creating a welcoming environment for all Explora clients and partners
o Answering questions and problem-solving issues as they arise
o Must be able to work independently to carry out delegated tasks preparing for or during rental
o Must be able to learn and effectively utilize: Google Suites and Cogran
o Must be able to maintain composure in fast paced environments
o Maintain a professional appearance and attire for any client interactions
• Often work evenings and weekends
• Assist with moving furniture and equipment as needed
• Ability to work independently and with a team
• Play an active role in Explora's mission
• Demonstrate stellar customer service at all times
• Must comply with all operational policies, especially those involving the safety of fellow workers,
volunteers and visitors.
• Other duties as assigned by the director or manager.

• Requires standing and walking approximately 70% of the time, with regular need to perform physical
actions that include sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling materials, pulling,
carrying, and pushing
• Requires effective eye-and-hand coordination and manual dexterity
• May occasionally require lifting of various materials and equipment to a maximum of 50 pounds
Work Conditions:
• Facility may expose employee to loud noise levels, temperature changes, and physical obstacles
• Museum facilities may expose incumbent to high noise levels, temperature changes, liquid nitrogen, helium
gas, electrical exposure, unpredictable ventilation, dust, and physical obstacles
• Work is normally performed in an area of limited privacy
