At Veolia Nuclear Solutions Federal Services (VNSFS), located in Richland, Washington, we support and provide innovative, sustainable, and elegant solutions to some of the most complex challenges facing our government and commercial clients. Located just minutes from anywhere in the Tri-Cities, Veolia offers a flexible and balanced schedule and is seeking talented, driven individuals to join our team, learn from industry experts, and help support our clients and projects.

Veolia Nuclear Solutions Federal Services is looking for an early career Project Engineer with experience in project engineering, design and/or related systems engineering for operational systems.  In this position professionals will support projects that develop multi-discipline design deliverables per technical project requirements. Deliverables may include project scoping documentation, drawings, calculations, specifications, datasheets and technical reports.  The Project Engineer provides project execution support with tasks such as project planning, coordination, performance status, design interface handoffs, subcontract oversight, and progress reporting, as well as engagement in the technical details of design progression, and resolution of project action items. 

The successful candidate will be a self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented individual who possesses the ability to work well independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment using excellent communication and time management skills. In addition to supporting multiple projects simultaneously, Project Engineers may also support development of project proposals and formation of project teams.

Responsibilities
  • Provide project execution support in the areas of project planning, coordination, scheduling, performance status, design interface handoffs, subcontract oversight, and progress reporting.
  • Progress multi-disciplined technical expertise with ongoing engagement in design development, learning and application of design software, and engagement with industry learning opportunities.
  • Support design team review and evaluation of customer design criteria, including engagement applying industry design codes and standards to ensure design products conform to approved design criteria.
  • Develop and support application of Project Management principles and practices, along with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) for project execution.
  • Provide Project Engineering support to multiple projects of moderate size simultaneously.
  • Provide support to business development initiatives and proposals for future project opportunities.
Qualifications

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent technical degree.
  • 2+ years of experience in engineering and/or project management, including applicable intern scope.
  • Experience in support of nuclear facilities or designs
  • DOE (LANL, SNRS, IEC or Hanford) Experience strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with NQA-1 and other applicable DOE Orders and Standards.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communications skills as well as excellent computer skills that are relevant to job applications.   (Microsoft Suite including Projects)

Desired Qualifications   

  • Experience with Federal Projects within the Department of Defense, Department of Energy, National Nuclear Security Administration.
  • Hanford, Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), and/or National Nuclear Security Site (NNSS) experience.

Accountabilities:

  • Accountable to the Director of Projects - Engineering and Technology for effective project engineering support.
  • Support engineering and project managers in planning and execution of project scope.
  • Professional interaction with clients, customers, officials and contractors
  • Support project execution for delivering scope on time, on budget and in accordance with expectations, including delivery in a safe and secure manner.
  • Support development of Technical and Cost Proposals.
  • Compliance with policies and procedures
