Job description

Overview
Reports to: Architecture Services Manager
Job Status: Hourly (15 - 38.5 hours a week)
Pay: $22.00 per hour
Location: On-site at KFB State Office in Louisville, KY
Term: August 2026 to December 2026 (term may be extended by mutual agreement of intern and hiring manager)
This position is responsible for the analysis, programming, and configuration of end user applications and/or systems software including: Analyzing detailed business/functional/technical requirements and specifications for the application. The focus is on coding internally developed applications and/or configuring commercial-off-the-shelf applications using programming, scripting, and database languages. Relies on fundamental experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, including: Supporting application testing, deployment, maintenance, correcting programming errors, responding to scope changes, and coding application enhancements. Performs a variety of tasks. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
Responsibilities
Works with both business and other IT members to analyze, design, and develop application requirements and system specifications.
From analysis and general specifications, codes new programs, modifies existing programs, tests, and documents programs following published standards.
Participates in development or modification of conceptual, logical, and physical design architectural artifacts (documents, models, etc.).
Participates in the preparation of project plans and time estimates.
Researches, resolves, and documents incident reports.
Tests all programs thoroughly following standard guidelines.
Participates in production reviews.
Fulfills administrative reporting requirements.
Self-motivated and takes the initiative.
Regular, predictable attendance as employee has to physically be in the office.

Job Specifications
Physical demands: Normal hearing/vision (with or without correction); Sitting - frequent work at a workstation for long periods of time; 24 hour on-call support on a rotation schedule; Occasional overtime, evening or weekend hours in order to meet deadlines or implement system changes.
Mental demands: Prolonged concentration; Analytical reasoning; Stress of meeting deadlines.
Environmental factors: Standard office lighting, temperature, and noise.
Equipment: Personal computer, phone, copier/printer.
Qualifications
Must be actively enrolled in college-level courses.
Bachelor's degree required or in process. Computer Sciences degree preferred.
Classroom exposure or entry level experience of Systems Analysis and Design is preferred.
Classroom exposure or entry level experience of Core Java, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and SQL strongly preferred. Other related object oriented development experience may be substituted.
Classroom exposure or entry level experience of JEE, Spring frameworks, or similar environment/frameworks preferred.
Effective communication skills - verbal, written, and listening.
