Job description

Are you ready to join the award winning residential design firm Morrison Interiors? Morrison Interiors is seeking a Lead Interior Designer to join our team.
A Lead Interior Designer has 5-7 years of residential construction experience and is ready to start managing their own projects. A lead designer will have all the knowledge, experience and technical skills to design a home start to finish. A lead designer understands the expectation in each phase of the design process, knows what to look for and is able to problem solve any future problems that may arise. A lead designer will have extensive experience presenting individual spaces to clients and is now ready to present a full project. A lead designer is the primary point of contact for the clients, vendors and takes full ownership of their projects.
Client Management
  • Ability to guide a client through the design process
  • Communicate eloquently both verbally and through email
  • Present a complete and cohesive design from selecting tile and stone, lighting, furniture and fabrics

Technical Skills
  • Proficient in the full design process from concept, schematic and design phase to construction documentation
  • Proficient in Autocad, Sketchup, Adobe creative suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Proficient in creating project documentation, visual presentations
  • Draft construction documents including elevations, reflected ceiling plans, finish schedules and specifications
  • Assemble spec books for clients, architects, and builders

What position fits you best?
  • A Design Intern is completing a college degree in design or looking to start an Interior Design career.
  • A Design Associate is learning the design process and developing the technical skills by collaborating with the team in all phases of the design process.
  • A Junior Designer is fine tuning the technical skills and gaining experience in client relations. Is proficient with floor plans, elevations and industry standards for technical measurements.
  • A Lead Designer has all the technical skills, experience with client relations and is ready to manage their own projects with minimal guidance (30,000 - 40,000 sqft or 4-5 projects at one time)
  • A Senior Designer is ready to manage a book of design projects as well as mentor younger designers (100,000 sqft plus)
