Job description

Description
The Department of Romance Language and Literatures at the University of Chicago invites applications for part-time Lecturers in Spanish. The selected candidate will have part-time teaching opportunities in various courses of the Spanish Language curriculum. Responsibilities include preparing and teaching language courses at various levels (elementary, intermediate, and/or advanced), holding regularly scheduled office hours, and the preparing and grading of assignments and testing materials. Depending on the curricular needs of the department, the successful candidate may teach between one and four courses per academic year.
The terms and conditions of employment for this position are covered by a collective bargaining agreement between the University and Service Employees International Union. The per-course salary for academic year 2026-27 will be at least $9,193. This position is not benefits eligible.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold a Master's degree or equivalent in Spanish Language pedagogy and/or a related field, superior proficiency in Spanish and English according to ACTFL guidelines, and experience teaching Spanish at the college or post-secondary level.
