Job description

A nationally recognized commercial general contractor with a long-standing history of delivering complex, high-profile construction projects is seeking an experienced Superintendent to support the continued growth and re-establishment of its Indianapolis presence. This role will play a key part in expanding operations throughout Central Indiana while maintaining the company’s reputation for quality, safety, and client satisfaction across diverse market sectors.

The Superintendent will oversee all on-site construction activities from preconstruction through project closeout and serve as the primary field leader responsible for schedule execution, subcontractor coordination, quality control, and jobsite safety. The ideal candidate brings strong commercial construction experience and a proven ability to lead teams on technically challenging projects.

Projects may include healthcare facilities, higher education buildings, mixed-use developments, civic and government projects, hospitality, corporate interiors, and large-scale commercial developments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all day-to-day field operations on commercial construction projects
  • Develop and maintain project schedules in coordination with Project Management teams
  • Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, inspections, and material deliveries
  • Ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and in accordance with contract documents
  • Conduct daily safety meetings and enforce all OSHA and company safety standards
  • Manage quality control processes and ensure workmanship meets company expectations
  • Identify and proactively resolve field conflicts and construction challenges
  • Maintain strong relationships with owners, architects, engineers, and trade partners
  • Prepare and maintain daily reports, look-ahead schedules, and progress updates
  • Support project turnover, punch list completion, and closeout activities
  • Mentor assistant superintendents and field staff as the Indianapolis operations continue to grow

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent on commercial construction projects
  • Experience managing ground-up and/or major renovation projects
  • Strong knowledge of construction means and methods, scheduling, and sequencing
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Proven leadership and communication skills
  • Experience coordinating multiple trades in active project environments
  • Proficiency with construction management software and digital reporting tools
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred
  • Stable work history with reputable commercial general contractors preferred
