Synopsis
A Designer II - Interiors is involved in assisting on the design or renovation of internal spaces, including architectural non-structural alterations, finishes, fixtures, lighting, color schemes, furnishings and accessories. Interior projects must combine the efficient and functional use of space with an understanding of aesthetics.
The Designer II - Interiors works in partnership with other Designers, Client Managers, Assistant Client Managers, Architects, Engineers, and CAD Technicians and are responsible for product and furniture selections/specifications and producing high quality design presentations and construction documentation using CAD/BIM software. The Designer II shall consistently produce high quality construction documentation and specifications in accordance with the project schedule and standards.
Successful candidates must have the ability to focus in a busy team environment utilizing strong time-management skills in order to successfully multi-task while producing work of high quality. They must possess and exhibit a positive, "can do" attitude even in high stress situations with an unwavering commitment to "world class customer service."
As a Designer II - Interiors with Fieldstone A & E, the Candidate will primarily support the Interior Design Team but will also be expected to contribute drafting support to the Architectural or Structural Teams as necessary to help meet fluctuating work demands.
Duties & Responsibilities:

Project Management
  • Develop interior project designs through space planning, finish selections and specifications, layout, selections, and specifications of furnishings and various other project related products
  • Develop interior design construction documents.
  • Assist Interior Design Manager to identify scope modifications to the contract.
  • Assist Interior Design Manager or ACM in directing project coordinator in project schedule modifications.
  • Manage and track individual project details and associated internal and external communications. Assist Interior Design Manager with external communications when needed.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders during design process to maintain design intent and comply with owner specifications.
  • Understands appropriate project delivery methods.
  • Assist Interior Design Manager in managing information exchange during all project phases including construction administration.
  • Assist Interior Design Manager and arch project team on discipline coordination of projects.
  • Shares, tracks, and coordinates electronic documentation and files with the project team, clients and consultants including project channels and file & folder preparation.
  • Communicate client redlines, standards, and other directives to the team.
  • Manage and track individual project timelines and deadlines.
  • Coordinate design work of in-house team members.
  • Perform self-quality control reviews throughout the documentation process.
  • Assist with procurement documentation, quality control, and reselections.
  • Assist Interior Design Manager to oversee installations.
  • Assist in preparing marketing documents that accurately communicate firm's experience and capabilities.

Project Ownership
  • A Designer II / Interiors position is expected to take the lead on individual projects and drive them through the FAE process from inception to completion / installation.
  • "Ownership" involves understanding and implementing client direction, selecting, documenting, and saving all required selections for a complete project, following up on outstanding information, adhering to timeline(s) and bearing responsibility for meeting deadlines, deliverables, and Client presentations.

Leadership
  • Fosters and maintains a collaborative professional working relationship with the project teams.
  • Consistently provides complete and timely communication of project information to the project team.
  • Ensures that design intent is consistent and properly executed.

Project Development & Documentation:
  • Orders samples for projects.
  • Develops innovative design concepts which are practical, aesthetic, safe and conducive to the intended
  • purposes and function which is reflective of client goals and within project budget.
  • Selections, specification and documentation efforts including interior finish color selections, interior trim,
  • door style & finish, cabinet and millwork, door & cabinet hardware, lighting fixtures, plumbing fixtures, bathroom accessories, flooring, ceiling treatments, wall covering, furniture, artwork, and accessories.
  • Selects materials, finishes, and systems based on technical properties and aesthetic requirements.
  • Prepares design alternatives for client review.
  • Communicate design ideas graphically; create theme, finish, and/or furniture presentations physical or electronic formats.
    • Communicate design ideas to client with three-dimensional (3-D) computer aided design software.
    • Present design ideas to client orally.
  • Communicate with other disciplines, vendors, and contractors to ensure incorporation of all information into project requirements and provides support as necessary.
  • Participates in fieldwork, documentation and space verification when necessary.
  • Prepares Interior Design, Architecture or Engineering construction drawings for commercial projects utilizing AutoCAD Architecture.
  • Develops and drafts Interior Design, Architectural or Engineering details.
  • Consistently applies Fieldstone's Quality Control procedures and takes ownership of their work.
  • Complies with Fieldstone and client-specific standards (CAD, File Management, etc.).
  • Documentation of time and expenses using Fieldstone's business management system.
  • Assist in reviewing shop drawings and submittals during construction for conformance with design intent.
  • Assist in responding to Contractor Requests for Information.
  • Assisting in completing field reports to document field observations from construction site visit.
  • Responsible for assisting with the file management and documentation during the Construction Administration phase with responding to RFI's, CO's, reviewing shop drawings and involvement in field visit reviews.

Required Skills
  • Knowledge of design, design trends, construction methodology, material applications, and manufacturer-supplier appropriateness.
  • Intermediate level experience with AutoCAD, 3-D programs, Sketch-Up, Revit and other modeling software programs
  • Intermediate level experience with Creative Adobe Suite applications, specifically In-Design and Photoshop
  • Intermediate level use of office programs such as Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
  • Strong graphic and visualization skills to communicate design ideas
  • Knowledge of construction documents, and CAD concepts, and basic construction techniques
  • General knowledge and basic understanding of building codes and accessibility requirements
  • Understanding of commercial grade interior finish materials, products, and furnishings
  • Good collaboration skills, organized, and able to work in a team environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to produce deliverables with limited guidance

Required Experience
  • Interior Design bachelors or higher at a CIDA accredited program.
  • Work experience in an Interior Design industry related environment a plus.
  • 3+ years of work experience in directly related position.
