Job description

As a B2B Sales Consultant — High-End Danish Furniture & Interiors, you will sell a curated line of premium Danish designer furniture to architects, interior designers, and corporate procurement managers across the Greater Toronto Area. Your buyers are design professionals and corporate facilities teams specifying high-end furniture for residential, hospitality, and commercial fitout projects. This role is 50% new business development and 50% account management in Year 1, shifting to 75% new business development in Year 2. The majority of your leads will be self-generated — 75% of your pipeline must come from your own prospecting efforts. This is the company's first dedicated sales hire — you will be building the sales function from the ground up. The role reports to the Sales Manager. The base salary is $80,000 – $100,000+ CAD, plus residual commission.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

•       $80,000 – $100,000+ CAD base salary, plus residual commission

•       Year 1 OTE: $100,000 – $170,000 CAD

•       Year 2 OTE: $200,000 – $250,000 CAD

•       Residual commission — paid on all client purchases, year over year. No cap.

•       Quarterly personal performance bonus — uncapped

•       Car Allowance

•       Laptop and cell phone provided

•       Expense account

•       Employee recognition, gifts, and rewards

•       Compensation flexibility exists for the right candidate

THE COMPANY & CULTURE

Our client was founded approximately 20 years ago and operates as a partnership. The business is mature and established, having recently transitioned to new ownership — the new partners are actively rebuilding a growth strategy and making their first dedicated sales hires. Headquartered in Yorkville, Toronto, they import and sell premium Danish modern windows, doors, and designer furniture, representing curated Scandinavian brands. Products are sold into the GTA architectural, builder, and design market.

Clients purchase because of slim architectural profiles and timeless Scandinavian craftsmanship. Products are not commodity purchases — architects and designers specify them because of design precision and brand prestige. All furniture is imported from Denmark.

The culture is design-led, rooted in Danish modernism — simplicity, functionality, and craftsmanship. Leadership is involved and works closely alongside the team. Under prior ownership, average staff tenure was 10–15 years. This is a low-turnover, high-standards environment with a collaborative, hands-on working style.

OFFICE LOCATION & SALES TERRITORY

•       Head Office / Showroom: Toronto, ON

•       Work arrangement: Hybrid — minimum 2 days per week in office or showroom. Remainder field-based, visiting interior designers, architects, and corporate clients across the GTA. Additional showroom time required during onboarding period.

EXPERIENCE, BACKGROUND & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

•       5–15 years of B2B sales experience selling to interior designers, architects, or corporate procurement buyers

•       3–5 years of industry experience in high-end / designer furniture, contract furnishings, or a closely adjacent design-led product category — not consumer retail

•       Experience selling to architects, interior designers, or corporate procurement buyers is essential

•       Existing network of interior designers, A&D contacts, and/or corporate procurement decision-makers in the GTA is a significant advantage

•       Comfort with both proactive outbound new business development and showroom floor sales

•       Post-secondary diploma minimum

•       Valid G driver's licence and personal vehicle required

THE PRODUCT / SERVICE / SOLUTION

•       High-end Scandinavian furniture collections representing curated Danish brands

•       Full project installations for corporate fitout and interior design specifications

PROSPECTIVE CUSTOMERS / INDUSTRY FOCUS / DECISION MAKER(S)

•       Interior designers and architects specifying for residential, hospitality, and commercial projects

•       Corporate procurement and facilities managers (office renovations, commercial fitouts)

SALES CYCLE / ORDER VALUE / ACCOUNT SIZE

•       Single piece orders: designer chairs and statement furniture from $30,000+

•       Full project installations: six-figure corporate and residential specifications

•       Sales cycle varies by project type — repeat orders from established design relationships can be transactional; corporate contract and new project specifications involve multiple decision-makers and extended timelines

•       Relationship-led selling — long-term client relationships are central to business development

COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES

•       Exclusive representation of curated Danish and Scandinavian brands not widely available in the GTA market

•       20 years of established relationships with the GTA architectural and design community

•       Premium Danish provenance, craftsmanship, and design story — compelling narrative for design professionals

•       Low-turnover, relationship-first culture — clients work with representatives long-term

•       Residual commission on all repeat purchases — your book of business grows in value year over year

TYPICAL DAY & DUTIES

•       50% New Business Development (Year 1) — proactive outreach to architects, interior designers, and corporate procurement buyers

•       High outbound prospecting activity is a core expectation of this role

OVERNIGHT TRAVEL

•       Full product training provided — Danish furniture, brand story, provenance, and design vocabulary

•       Direct coaching from Sales Manager — 8 years of sales management experience

•       Proprietary CRM training provided

WHY YOU SHOULD APPLY

•       Residual commission on all client purchases — your book of business generates income year over year with no cap

•       First dedicated sales hire — you are building the sales function from scratch with direct access to ownership
