Job description

Position Title: Interior Designer - Residential Design-Build

Mitchell Construction Group is seeking an experienced, motivated and innovative Interior Designer with a passion for creating beautiful, functional, and cohesive living spaces.  The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with the ability to guide clients in bringing their vision to life and solving complex design challenges.  This role requires leadership throughout the construction phase, working collaboratively with our talented project team to deliver exceptional results. 

This is an in-person collaborative position, not remote.

Key Responsibilities:

    • End-to-End Project Management: Lead projects from conception to completion, ensuring alignment with timelines, objectives and overall vision.
    • Design-Driven Sales: Leverage design expertise to guide clients through the sales process, translating concepts into committed projects.
    • Client and Team Engagement: Coordinate and lead meetings with clients and internal teams throughout the design process, fostering clear communication and strong collaboration.
    • Schedule and Process Management: Develop and manage design schedules and facilitate timely progress through the permitting and compliance pathways.
    • Design Development: Direct schematic design phases and produce comprehensive drawing sets for trade walkthroughs, permitting and construction.
    • Time-Sensitive Design Sales Execution: Utilize design knowledge to keep clients progressing from initial vision to signed project commitments.
    • Client Presentations: Develop compelling client presentations including renderings and 3D visualizations to articulate design concepts effectively.
    • Site Oversight: Conduct regular site visits to ensure quality, address issues proactively, and maintain alignment with design intent.
    • Selection Management: Facilitate the selection process with clients and team members, coordinating choices within designated budgets and allowances.
    • Budget Management: Manage design allowances and project budgets, balancing financial targets with quality and client expectations.
    • Trade Collaboration: Partner with trades throughout project lifecycle – from sourcing and quoting to procurement – to ensure smooth execution.
    • Client Relationship Management: Proactively manage client expectations by maintaining transparent communication and providing consistent updates on progress, milestones and key decisions.

Requirements

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design or Architecture (Masters preferred)
  • NCIDQ certified (preferred)
  • 10+ years Professional experience in Design and/or Architecture
  • Proficiency in Revit software
