Meredith Owen Interiors is growing, and we’re looking for a talented Interior Designer with 3 to 5 years of high-end residential experience to join our Austin studio.

We’re passionate about creating layered, thoughtful homes that feel personal, collected, and beautifully lived in. We’re looking for a designer who shares that same passion and loves the balance of creativity and technical precision that goes into bringing a home to life.

The ideal candidate is design driven, highly organized, and technically strong, with advanced AutoCAD skills and a true understanding of residential detailing. You’ll have the opportunity to be involved throughout the design process, from developing concepts and sourcing beautiful materials to creating detailed drawings and collaborating with clients, architects, builders, and our trusted trade partners.

We’re a small, close-knit team, so we’re looking for someone who is collaborative, curious, willing to jump in, and excited to grow alongside us. If you love beautiful design, care about the details, and want to be part of a studio where relationships and teamwork matter just as much as the finished project, we’d love to meet you!!

About the Role

This position will work closely with Meredith and our design team throughout all phases of our projects, from initial concepts and selections through documentation, procurement, and installation.

The ideal candidate is someone who takes ownership of their work, has excellent attention to detail, communicates confidently, and enjoys working collaboratively with clients, architects, builders, and vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute high end residential interior design concepts
  • Create and maintain detailed AutoCAD drawings, including floor plans, elevations, reflected ceiling plans, cabinetry drawings, tile layouts, and other construction documentation
  • Assist with space planning, furniture layouts, finish selections, and material specifications
  • Develop detailed finish and fixture schedules
  • Source furniture, lighting, plumbing fixtures, hardware, fabrics, wallcoverings, and accessories
  • Prepare polished client presentations and design boards
  • Coordinate with architects, builders, contractors, vendors, and consultants
  • Participate in client meetings and site visits
  • Review shop drawings and assist with design related construction questions
  • Assist with procurement and order management
  • Help coordinate installations and project completion
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining a high level of organization and attention to detail
  • Contribute positively to a small studio environment and support the team wherever needed

What We're Looking For

  • 3 to 5 years of professional interior design experience, preferably in high end residential design
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD is required
  • Strong understanding of construction documentation and residential detailing
  • Experience developing interior elevations, cabinetry drawings, tile layouts, and detailed plans
  • Strong design sensibility with an eye for proportion, scale, color, texture, and materiality
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable communicating with clients and industry professionals
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Detail oriented with strong follow through
  • Ability to work independently while also being a collaborative team member
  • Experience with Studio Designer is preferred
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and other design software is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or a related field preferred

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who wants to grow with our studio.
