Our client is a subcontractor that works on the interiors of Data Centers, delivering complex conveyance and cable tray solutions for high-profile projects. This is a key opportunity to step into an Assistant Project Manager role where you’ll support the successful delivery of mission-critical infrastructure in a fast-paced, technically demanding environment. You’ll work closely with senior project leadership to ensure projects are executed safely, on schedule, and within budget.

About the Role:

As Assistant Project Manager (Conveyance), you will support the planning, coordination, and execution of interior data center conveyance and cable tray installations. You will act as a key link between the field, the office, and the client’s project team, ensuring information flows accurately and construction activities align with project plans and specifications. Your work will directly impact project timelines, cost control, and quality outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing and maintaining detailed project schedules for conveyance and cable tray scopes, coordinating activities with field supervisors and other trades.
  • Support day-to-day project coordination, including tracking progress, resolving site issues, and ensuring alignment with project plans and specifications.
  • Prepare, review, and manage construction documentation such as submittals, RFIs, and change orders for the conveyance scope.
  • Monitor project budgets and cost control measures, tracking quantities, labor hours, and material usage against forecasts.
  • Conduct on-site walk-throughs to verify installation progress, identify risks, and support timely mitigation actions.
  • Review technical drawings and specifications for conveyance systems to ensure accurate installation and identify discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate project records, reports, and logs, including meeting minutes, daily reports, and status updates.
  • Collaborate with general contractors, other subcontractors, and internal teams to coordinate work sequences and minimize conflicts.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience in project coordination and scheduling within construction or industrial environments.
  • Practical knowledge of conveyance systems and infrastructure, including cable trays and related components.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical plans, drawings, and specifications.
  • Hands-on experience with construction documentation and reporting in a subcontractor or contractor setting.
  • Proven capability in risk assessment and mitigation within active construction projects.
  • Competence in budget tracking and cost control, including monitoring project costs and supporting forecasting.
  • Proficiency with project management software and MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, and scheduling tools).
  • Familiarity with managing submittals, RFIs, and change orders on construction projects.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience working on data center interiors or other mission-critical facilities.
  • Background working for a subcontractor coordinating with general contractors and multiple trades.
  • Exposure to MEP coordination or low-voltage/cabling installations.
  • Knowledge of construction quality control processes and punch list management.
  • Understanding of safety standards and practices specific to data center construction environments.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Relevant technical or trade school certification in construction or project management considered.
  • Formal training or certification in project management (e.g., CAPM, PMP) is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated track record in a project coordination or assistant project management role within construction.

If you’re ready to grow your project management career on cutting-edge data center projects and take ownership of critical conveyance work, we encourage you to apply.
