Position Overview

The ideal candidate for this position will have a strong background in interior design and interior architecture with technical expertise using Google SketchUp, InDesign, Revit, and Bluebeam to create innovative, functional, and aesthetically pleasing spaces by assessing space requirements, determining optimal furniture placement, and selecting decorative items, all while maintaining compliance to relevant construction drawings, building codes, and inspection requirements.

Essential Functions
  • Design spaces that are both aesthetically pleasing and functional to enrich the human experience.
  • Develop human-centered sustainable spaces.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and preferences.
  • Consider acoustics, furniture, equipment, lighting, and wayfinding for designs.
  • Develop complementary color palettes in design plans.
  • Provide project team coordination for finish plans, specifications, and material selections needed for construction.
  • Provide design and documentation support during the execution of design concepts and design completion.
  • Collaborate with consultants, product representatives, furniture dealers, or fabricators to meet overall project objectives.
  • Produce and assist with plan elevations, details, specifications, and material selections in the construction documents.
  • Provide technical and documentation support during the construction document phase.
  • Coordinate with designers, project architects and project managers on delivery of project milestones.
  • Participates in construction administration including submittals, punch lists, and other required project close out documentation.
  • Maintains current knowledge of trends and materials, techniques, and other developments in interior design.
Experience
  • Ten (10) years or more of interior design or architecture work experience.
  • Technical proficiency in the use of Google SketchUp and Enscape.
  • Project development and manipulation of spaces using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or InDesign.
  • Experience creating 3D renderings, presentations, and other project visuals.
  • Proficient in using Revit for project development.
  • Technical experience using Bluebeam for project markups and QA/QC.
  • Commitment to creative design with attention to detail pertaining to space planning, FF&E, furniture systems, lighting, accessibility.
  • Experience interpreting and applying building codes and inspection requirements, especially pertaining to healthcare planning.
  • Familiarity with ADA building requirements, safety regulations, and industry standards.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Hybrid work format (3 days in office; 2 days remote).
  • An authentic studio culture that values teamwork, flexibility, and a shared passion for design.
  • Must be able to access and navigate all areas of construction sites.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • English language communication and client interface skills.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States, without need for sponsorship.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in interior design or interior architecture from an accredited program.
