Job description

American House is seeking an experienced Interior Design Coordinator to support the planning, coordination, and execution of interior design, renovation, and capital improvement projects across our senior living communities. Reporting to the Senior Interior Designer, this role will assist with FF&E procurement, project coordination, space planning, vendor management, design implementation, and community renovations.
The ideal candidate has experience in commercial interior design, hospitality design, senior living design, multifamily housing, healthcare environments, or renovation projects and enjoys balancing creativity with project execution. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to meaningful design projects that directly enhance the resident experience.
Key Responsibilities
Interior Design & Capital Improvement Projects
  • Support the Senior Interior Designer in planning and executing interior renovation, remodeling, and capital improvement projects across multiple senior living communities.
  • Assist with space planning, furniture selection, finish selections, color palettes, material specifications, and design presentations.
  • Create design concepts that align with American House brand standards while supporting resident comfort, accessibility, durability, and safety.
  • Develop and maintain design documentation, specifications, and project records.
FF&E Procurement & Project Coordination
  • Coordinate Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment (FF&E) sourcing, purchasing, tracking, delivery, and installation.
  • Assist with project budgets, schedules, timelines, and scope development.
  • Manage purchase orders, invoices, vendor communications, and procurement documentation.
  • Coordinate with manufacturers, suppliers, contractors, and installers to ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor installation progress and verify design quality and project completion.
Design Implementation & Community Support
  • Partner with Executive Directors, Operations leaders, and community teams to identify design needs and improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure furnishings, décor, artwork, and accessories are installed according to design intent and operational requirements.
  • Provide ongoing support for interior design updates, refreshes, and community enhancement initiatives.
  • Assist with move-ins, model units, common areas, dining venues, and hospitality-inspired resident spaces.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Collaborate with Development, Facilities, Operations, Construction, and Leadership teams on design initiatives.
  • Prepare design boards, mood boards, renderings, presentations, and recommendations for stakeholder review.
  • Support development and tracking of the organization's multi-year Capital Expenditure (CapEx) Plan for renovation and design projects.
  • Maintain consistency in design standards across the American House portfolio.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Interior Architecture, Environmental Design, or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in interior design, interior design coordination, project coordination, commercial design, hospitality design, senior living, healthcare, multifamily, or renovation projects.
  • Experience with FF&E procurement, vendor management, budgeting, purchasing, and project administration.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, Bluebeam, or related design software.
  • Strong knowledge of project management principles and construction documentation.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of ADA accessibility guidelines, senior living design, hospitality environments, healthcare design, or multifamily housing preferred.
  • Willingness to travel to communities as needed.
