Description
The Department of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation at Jackson State University is accepting applications for its Administrative Assistant position.
Examples of Duties
  • Assist in the daily operations of the Department of Health, Physical Education and Recreation by managing routine administrative functions and providing organizational support to faculty, staff; students, and department leadership.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for students, faculty, staff., alumni, and external stakeholders by responding to inquiries, providing information, and directing individuals to appropriate resources.
  • Maintain department records, files, databases, and documentation in accordance with university policies and procedures while ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with institutional regulations.
  • Coordinate departmental communications, including managing telephone calls, email correspondence, mail distribution, and departmental announcements.

Typical Qualifications
  • Minimum of two (2) years of administrative, clerical, or office management experience; preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and experience with database management systems.
