Interior Designer
Location: Washington, DC (Hybrid: 4 days in-office / 1 day remote after onboarding)
Role Overview
Zoe Feldman Design is seeking a talented and highly organized Interior Designer to join our Washington, DC office. This role is ideal for a creative, technically proficient designer with experience in high-end residential interiors who enjoys working collaboratively and managing the details that bring a project from concept through installation.
The Designer will work closely with the Project Manager, Design Assistant and the Creative Director to develop and execute thoughtful, elevated interiors while helping manage project schedules, client communication, documentation, and installations.
After a successful onboarding and introductory period, this role will transition to a hybrid schedule of four days in-office and one day remote per week.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, or related field preferred
  • 4 - 7+ years of professional interior design experience, preferably in high-end residential design
  • Strong design aesthetic with a portfolio demonstrating relevant work
  • Knowledge of furniture, millwork, finishes, materials, and construction details
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD required; Studio Designer experience a plus
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with strong attention to detail
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Collaborative, proactive, and solutions-oriented approach
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to travel for site visits and installations, including occasional overnight stays

Key Responsibilities
Design Leadership & Project Ownership
  • Lead the creative direction and execution of high-end residential projects from kickoff through installation
  • Serve as the primary design lead on assigned projects, ensuring design integrity and excellence throughout all phases
  • Collaborate closely with clients to understand their vision, lifestyle needs, and project goals
  • Oversee development of space plans, furniture plans, finish schemes, and presentations
  • Design and oversee the execution of custom furniture and millwork

Team Leadership & Mentorship
  • Lead and mentor Designers, Junior Designers, and Design Assistants across multiple projects
  • Review team deliverables to ensure quality, accuracy, and alignment with studio standards
  • Provide constructive feedback and guidance to support team growth
  • Assist Directors in training, development, and performance feedback

Client & Consultant Collaboration
  • Act as a primary client contact for design-related decisions and communication
  • Lead client meetings, design presentations, and key milestones
  • Support resolution of design-related challenges during construction

Budget, Procurement & Installation Coordination
  • Monitor design selections against project budgets and scopes
  • Work closely with Procurement and Project Managers throughout ordering, fabrication, and delivery
  • Coordinate with the project team to prepare for and participate in installations
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and address design issues

Errands & On-the-Ground Support
  • Access to a car is required

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to navigate project sites, including climbing stairs and standing or moving for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and carry packages or materials up to 30 lbs as needed
  • Ability to communicate clearly with clients, contractors, vendors, and team members, both virtually and in-person
