Job description

Responsibilities

Job Summary: Responsible for full development and integral design of the store environment from concept through design development, either manual- or computer-generated.
Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions:

  • Uses a working understanding of the H-E-B brand applying them to new interior environments that meet the functional needs of partners, are unique, and exhibit a harmonious approach to use of color, form, scale, lighting, and texture
  • Meet with internal teams to help define the scope, schedule and budget of an interior design project. Develop materials, images, and concepts for the visioning process, and assists in the conceptual development phase of a project.
  • Creates interior design options which require researching, compiling, and recording information and materials for assigned project work. Significantly contributes to Schematic Design & Design Development deliverables.
  • Manages small scale department planning and design  projects through construction document and installation phases, communicates directly with vendors to define fabrication details, and assists in the change management process.
  • Attends construction and vendor site visits and identifies, documents, and elevates potential coordination issues with the Interior Design team.

Qualifications & Key Requirements:
Work Experience:

  • 2+ years of relevant interior design experience
  • Relevant project experience
  • Demonstrated experience applying interior design principals to fixture design within a retail environment.
  • Working understanding of interior design and space planning, including but not limited to ADA compliance, aisle spacing & customer areas, fixtures & equipment required to operate a department/store, special needs for partner operations & standard operating procedures, and integration of lighting, mechanical, electrical, plumbing & refrigeration infrastructure.
  • Direct experience in using Sketchup, REVIT, AutoCAD, 2-D and 3-D modeling and visualization, Bluebeam, and the MS Office suite of products.
  • Ability to manage standard interior design deliverables to completion on a weekly basis with direct supervisions by others. Tracks completion through project management software. Surfaces workload risks and works with the Manager to prioritize tasks.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Intermediate individual contributor in a professional role. Works independently within an established framework, receiving detailed instructions only on new assignments. Possesses specialized knowledge and skills required to perform the role. Applies practical knowledge, learned theories, concepts, principles, and methodologies to difficult but non-complex, conventional assignments. Majority of work efforts are focused on meeting objectives related to implementation or delivery of processes, programs, and/or policies
  • Builds productive internal and external working relationships
  • Strong verbal / written / graphic communication skills


Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or Architecture or additional role-relevant experience.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions:

  • Function in a fast-paced, office environment
  • Work extended hours and / or rotating schedules or more
