Job description

  • Design, develop, validate, release, and implement Body Interior components and systems for assigned vehicle programs
  • Lead development of master sections supporting manufacturing, cost, timing, safety, quality, assembly, craftsmanship, and ergonomics
  • Comply with program cost, weight, quality, performance, and timing targets and GPDS milestone deliverables
  • Apply the GPDS process and maintain program-specific robustness engineering disciplines
  • Develop and maintain the Engineering Statement of Work and support sourcing or re-sourcing processes
  • Lead CPA package development and ensure engineering and sourcing documentation is complete and delivered to Purchasing
  • Support Studio Development, identify high-risk fit-and-finish issues, and manage appearance feasibility
  • Conduct package studies and lead CAE studies
  • Manage CAD model transfers to and from suppliers
  • Complete engineering design and studio surface transfers according to program milestones
  • Apply Six Sigma and 8D issue resolution methodologies
  • Lead component design reviews and follow the Technical Design Review process
  • Release parts in FEDEBOM and WERS throughout the product lifecycle
  • Support change control meetings, interface with program change control, and prepare change requests
  • Audit and update bills of material for prototype builds and maintain CAD-to-BOM alignment
  • Identify required validation, durability, and functional tests; establish and maintain program-specific DVP
  • Resolve DPA issues, support PMT processes, and maintain open-issues lists
  • Lead parts implementation and sign-off in the assembly plant
  • Resolve design, fit/finish, and assembly issues during launch and provide production guidance
  • Review and act upon Product Design Letters when affected
  • Support VQR, VRTs, and PVT
  • Provide technical assistance to suppliers and support or lead component PPAP and supplier readiness reviews
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline
  • 2 years of experience with body interior components in an automotive domain
  • 1 year of CAD experience
  • Knowledge of vehicle functions and Body Interior systems and components, including Door Trim, IP, Hard Trim, and Console
  • Strong 3D CAD knowledge and experience with CAE studies
  • Solid knowledge of materials properties
  • Solid knowledge of interior trim production processes
  • Experience in craftsmanship and ergonomics principles
  • Solid experience with Studio Development processes and appearance feasibility
  • Effective project management skills
  • Microsoft Office proficiency, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Visa sponsorship is not available
