MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Electrical Engineer to join our team working onsite in the Washington D.C Navy Yard or Newport News, VA.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Provide technical support and assess risk for technical decisions for Ford Class Ship Design Managers (SDMs) and Electrical System Engineering Manager (SEM)
  • Collaborate with the SUPSHIP Newport News to resolve Electrical System technical matters
  • Provide written responses to requests for technical assistance or adjudication received via letter, Departure from Specification (DFS), and Nuclear Liaison Action Request (NLAR)
  • Address technical issues with ship modernization efforts executed via Ship Change Documents (SCDs) and support development of new SCDs
  • Coordinate with NAVAIR and NAVSEA Engineering Agents and Technical Authorities, TYCOM, PMS 312, PMS 378, SUPSHIP, Newport News Shipbuilding, & other activities
  • Provide technical leadership to calculate and assess risk associated with technical issues and key events
  • Review technical data packages, drawings, reports, logistics products, training, etc. and provide written technical recommendations
  • Review ship, procurement, and systems specifications and submit written proposals for changes

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline
  • 10+ years of experience working electrical engineering or related on navy ships or in a shipyard
  • Experience with aircraft carrier electrical systems

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience with Navy/DOW and Naval Nuclear propulsion
  • Experience with CVN 78 class Power Generation and Distribution, including medium voltage switchboards, transforms and 450V load centers; Electrical Equipment including generators, motors, pumps, circuit breakers, and motor controllers; and Control Systems

Clearance Requirements:
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain an active United States Government Secret security clearance.
  • Candidate will be required to obtain an interim Secret clearance before onboarding

Physical Requirements:
  • The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or to communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, via email, phone, and or virtual communication, which may involve delivering presentations.
