Position Summary


The Manager of Transmission and Interconnection is responsible for securing transmission and interconnection for our GW+ pipeline of Hydrothermal and Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS) projects. This role drives project origination and development by managing complex grid interconnection processes, securing transmission rights, and assisting our customers, including data centers, hyperscalers, and load-serving entities. The position provides cross-functional coordination, strategic market intelligence, and executive-level reporting to advance projects from inception to commercial operation.

Essential Functions


ย  ย Responsible for managing the Company's interconnection and transmission pipeline, including securing new agreements, tracking developments, and maintaining existing agreements for a GW+ pipeline of Hydrothermal and EGS projects across key energy markets in the Western U.S.
ย  ย Analyze RTO/ISO queues, congestion metrics, and transmission expansion plans to identify optimal, cost-effective project locations with viable paths to commercial markets.
ย  ย Oversee and track critical milestone development for the geothermal portfolio, ensuring technical, financial, and regulatory benchmarks are met.
ย  ย Build and maintain high-level relationships with transmission providers (TSOs/ISOs), regulatory agencies, engineering consultants, and utility executives.
ย  ย Partner with internal and external stakeholders to promote Ormat's objectives with policy-makers and regulatory agencies at the federal, state, and local levels.
ย  ย Track and analyze competitive landscapes, evolving market rules, emerging energy technologies, and competitor positioning.
ย  ย Responsible for representing the Company in local and international conferences and trade shows.
ย  ย Periodic monitoring and reporting on all projects and prospects under development.
ย  ย Track and analyze the Company's competitive environment, including new technologies and new competitors.
ย  ย Responsible for coordinating Business Development activities between various departments and stakeholders.

Education, Experience, and Skills Required


ย  ย Must have a Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, project management, renewable energy, or another related field.ย 
ย  ย 5-10 years of experience in renewable energy project development, transmission planning, interconnection management, or energy contract negotiation.
ย  ย Proven track record of handling large-scale energy portfolios and familiarity with the unique load profiles and contractual requirements of hyperscaler/data center off-takers.
ย  ย Direct experience navigating regional regulatory structures, tariff frameworks, and interconnection queues within specific target markets (e.g., WECC, CAISO, SPP, or ERCOT).
ย  ย Demonstrated ability to negotiate complex commercial agreements, including Interconnection Agreements, Transmission Service Agreements.
ย  ย The ability to travel long distances by car and air.
ย  ย Must be able to communicate with other employees and read and write at a level that will enable to perform the work in a safe and efficient manner.
ย  ย Must be able to use and acquire knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation. Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, Power Point, SharePoint, and Google Earth Pro. ArcGIS experience a plus.
