SONIFI Health isn’t just building interactive patient technology, we’re helping healthcare organizations improve care and create better experiences. Our team is passionate about solving real healthcare challenges, reinforcing our belief that healthcare is hospitality, and supporting what patients, clinicians, and families need most in care settings. If shaping what the future of healthcare looks like in hospitals and care centers across the country sounds like where you want your talents and career to go next, we’d love to welcome you to SONIFI Health.

Help lead the teams behind the technology that supports healthcare organizations, clinicians, and patients. We’re looking for a Senior Manager, Software Engineering to provide leadership across software engineering teams, with responsibility for resource planning, development processes, software quality, delivery accountability, and the growth and performance of engineering talent.

What you’ll do

Reporting to the Director of Software Engineering, you’ll provide leadership and direction across software engineering initiatives while ensuring resources, processes, quality, and team performance support business priorities and delivery commitments.

  • Lead strategic resource forecasting, capacity planning, and allocation of Software Engineers, quality engineers, technical authors, and related technical contributors across multiple development programs to support business priorities, delivery commitments, and new product development. Establish and cultivate collaborative, effective relationships with counterparts to ensure adequate resource allocation to projects and maximum efficiency.
  • Define, lead, and evaluate development process and quality initiatives, exercising independent judgment to determine appropriate priorities, standards, and corrective actions based on project, product, customer, and business needs. Lead standards-based compliance and process improvement efforts for assigned programs, including establishing expectations, monitoring adherence, resolving issues, and making recommendations that affect engineering operations and delivery outcomes.
  • Participate in and ensure well-planned implementation of established software quality improvement initiatives and processes, leveraging ROI, adherence to standards, and timely, measurable results. Use metrics related to resource allocation, software quality, delivery predictability, productivity, and efficiency to assess team performance, identify risks or improvement opportunities, and make informed management decisions.
  • Own delivery accountability for assigned software engineering initiatives by ensuring commitments, scope, dependencies, risks, and progress against schedules are clearly defined, reasonable, proactively monitored, and escalated as appropriate. Ensure communication and status forums are structured to support effective decision-making, timely escalation of significant issues, stakeholder alignment, and accountability for initiative and team outcomes.
  • Identify, attract, recruit, and retain internal and external talent to build an effective mix of leadership, technical, and delivery capabilities across supported Engineering teams. Effectively onboard new employees and managers to accelerate role clarity, productivity, team integration, and performance.
  • Establish and manage team and individual objectives, KPIs, and performance goals that align individual accountability with department objectives, delivery commitments, quality expectations, and business priorities. Allocate workload based on each employee’s strengths, skills, and capacity; implement development plans; coach individuals to reach their maximum talent; provide regular constructive feedback; address poor or mediocre performance in a timely manner; and recognize high performers to maintain motivation and retain key talent.
  • Leverage effective, clear, and timely communication through available written and verbal channels, including in a global context as appropriate for the initiatives and locations involved. Regularly communicate company news and team progress against the business plan while fostering an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performing team culture that encourages accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or the equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Minimum of four years of experience managing software engineering teams and at least 10 years of software development experience. Management experience may include indirect leadership responsibilities, such as serving as a team lead or guiding cross-functional initiatives.
  • A desire to work with people and the ability to challenge Software Engineers toward self‑improvement and increased technical skills, along with superior interpersonal skills and a proven ability to build effective, collaborative, cross‑functional relationships and motivate team members.
  • Experience delivering software products through Agile development and experience leading and/or developing within a full‑stack web development environment are required.
  • Healthcare industry experience building applications that support hospital clinical workflows and HL7/patient data.
  • History of cross‑functional success collaborating with peer teams, Project and Program Management, Quality Assurance, IT, and other stakeholders, with a sense of urgency to deliver value to customers.
  • Self‑directed and capable of working effectively in a highly innovative and fast‑paced environment, with strong logical and problem‑solving skills, superior attention to detail, and excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

This position directly manages an Agile software engineering team and may manage other technical positions. Responsibilities include setting work priorities, allocating resources, establishing performance expectations, coaching and developing employees, participating in hiring and staffing decisions, completing performance reviews, and addressing performance concerns.

Together, we can build your future!
