Overview of Role:

Summit Therapeutics is seeking a dynamic and strategic Associate Director of Training & Education to support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of global Medical Affairs training programs with a specific focus on field medical teams. This role will ensure that medical affairs personnel are equipped with the scientific, clinical, and compliance knowledge necessary to support Summit's mission of transforming patient outcomes through innovative therapies.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership
  • In partnership with the Director of Medical Affairs Training & Education, support the design and implementation of a comprehensive global Medical Affairs training strategy for ivonescimab in NSCLC, CRC, and other tumors, aligned with Summit's product lifecycle and scientific and business objectives.
  • Lead the creation of onboarding programs for new Medical Affairs team members, contribute to ongoing education for existing staff, and clinical updates upon new data generation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Medical Communications, Clinical Development, Health Economics and Outcome Research, Regulatory, Commercial, Compliance, Patient Advocacy, and Medical Information) to ensure training content reflects current data and strategic priorities.
  • Curriculum Development & Delivery
  • Develop, deliver, and maintain training modules on disease state, product knowledge, scientific engagement, and compliance.
  • Utilize adult learning principles and modern instructional design (e.g., microlearning, e-learning, workshops).
  • Support the establishment, maintenance, and optimization of the learning management system (LMS) to facilitate access to interactive training content and reliable tracking of learning activities including relevant metrics to evaluate impact.
  • Provide input into vendor selection and then actively manage outsourced training content or platforms.
  • Help identify internal champions within the medical affairs team who can support education, updates to knowledge, and mentorship.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
  • Collaborate with Field Medical teams to identify educational gaps and develop tailored learning solutions.
  • Act as a connector between the Field Medical, Medical Affairs (in-house), and other functions to ensure successful cross-functional collaboration.
  • Serve as a liaison with external experts to co-develop scientific content when appropriate.
  • Measurement & Optimization
  • Support the use of KPIs and metrics to assess training effectiveness and impact and guide continuous improvement efforts.
  • Continuously refine programs based on feedback, performance data, and evolving scientific landscape.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Experience, Education and Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • Advanced degree (PharmD, PhD, MD, or equivalent) in life sciences or healthcare-related field with a minimum of 3+ years of Medical Affairs & training related experience or 5+ years of life sciences related experience
  • 2+ years MSL experience preferred.
  • Experience contextualizing oncology therapies within a complex landscape.
  • Prior training or education experience preferred.
  • Deep understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design, and regulatory/compliance requirements.
  • Strong communication, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to shifting priorities and emerging needs.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with LMS platforms and digital learning tools.
  • Experience developing or improving onboarding curriculums and with execution of global or multi-regional training programs.
  • Ability to translate complex scientific data into engaging educational content.
