Job description

Senior Art Director

(HYBRID/REMOTE/ATL)

About Alloy

Alloy is an integrated marketing agency. We specialize in helping brands across the full funnel, from designing and developing digital solutions and brands that inspire, to creating complete communication offerings and performance marketing campaigns. Our cross-channel solutions help innovative brands engage with their buyers, shape public opinion, build lasting influence, create new categories, and accelerate growth and market share.

Behind it all is a group of nerds, rebels and creatives. We’ve been called a Best Place to Work (10 times and counting, to be exact). And we’re growing this Uncommon Crew.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior Art Director who can set vision, inspire teams, and deliver exceptional digital work. Unlike an advertising art director role, this position is rooted in digital design, branding, and interactive experiences. You’ll guide the creative process from strategy through execution, working closely with clients and internal teams to craft design that is strategic, human-centered, and visually striking.

Our ideal candidate is both a leader and a maker — someone who can establish a brand vision, mentor designers, and still sweat the details that make digital experiences unforgettable.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end design process: strategy, research, ideation, execution, and delivery
  • Establish a clear brand vision that connects research, business goals, and design excellence
  • Mentor and guide designers, elevating their work and helping them grow
  • Create new design systems and refine existing ones with precision and creativity
  • Translate complex problem spaces into multiple design solutions, making smart product and brand decisions along the way
  • Present confidently to clients and stakeholders, articulating design rationale with clarity
  • Drive the exploration and adoption of AI tools to enhance concepting, design, and efficiency across the team
  • Model collaborative leadership, building strong relationships with team members and clients

Must Haves

  • 6+ years of professional design experience, with at least 2 years in a lead or director-level role
  • A portfolio that demonstrates solving complex digital problems through elegant design
  • Proven ability to lead projects and teams while remaining hands-on
  • Mastery of Figma and Adobe Creative Suite; strong understanding of digital-first brand systems
  • Track record of curiosity and experimentation with AI in design workflows
  • Exceptional communication skills: written, verbal, and visual storytelling
  • Keen eye for typography, layout, and detail
  • Collaborative, optimistic, and ego-free

Nice to Haves

  • Motion design or prototyping experience (After Effects, Blender, Lottie)
  • Experience with Webflow or other no-code tools
  • Deep knowledge of interaction design and device capabilities
  • Illustration skills to elevate brand storytelling and add a distinctive creative edge
  • Ability to invent and evolve processes that make teams more efficient and inspired
