What You'll Build
The SAP Internship Experience Program is SAP's global, strategic, paid internship program that provides university students with opportunities to find purpose in their careers. This is more than an internship; it's the foundation for a career built on connection, creativity, and impact.
Position title: SAP GPO iXp Intern - Category Management Cloud Infrastructure
Location: Houston, TX, Hybrid
Travel Expectation: 10%
Expected start date to end date: July 20th, 2026 - July 20th, 2027
  • Project scope and deliverables

a) Supports the GPO Head of Cloud Infrastructure with day-to-day priorities, including supplier quarterly business reviews, biweekly team meetings, presentation preparation, supplier engagement, and summary of survey feedback.
b) Coordinates sourcing and procurement support activities for the GPO Cloud Infrastructure team, including third-party risk management follow-up and documentation.
c) Assists with vendor evaluation, selection, onboarding, and performance management activities.
d) Works with cross-functional partners, including IT, Finance, Legal, and Procurement, to support compliance, governance, and efficient execution of procurement processes.
e) Reviews procurement and supplier-related data to identify cost-saving opportunities, risks, process gaps, and improvement areas.
f) Maintains accurate procurement records, supplier documentation, meeting notes, action logs, and status updates.
g) Supports contract renewal and negotiation activities by coordinating inputs, tracking timelines, and preparing required materials under supervision.
h) Helps execute procurement strategies aligned with Cloud Infrastructure priorities, supplier management objectives, and business goals.
i) Tracks assigned actions, follows up with stakeholders and suppliers, and provides timely updates to support delivery and closure of open items.
j) Some travel may be required.
  • Business impact - You will be contributing and influencing the IT & Cloud - Cloud Infrastructure team by assisting in supplier quarterly business reviews and supporting sourcing and procurement activities, the intern helps optimize supplier relationships and ensure that the company secures the most cost-effective and high-quality solutions. Their involvement in vendor evaluation and performance management enables the business to make informed decisions, minimize risks, and maximize value from contracts.
  • Team environment and collaboration - Collaborating with cross-functional teams such as IT, finance, and legal, the intern will play a role in ensuring compliance and streamlining procurement processes. Analyzing procurement data to identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements can lead to measurable financial benefits and operational efficiencies. By helping with contract negotiations and renewals, the intern supports strategic initiatives that align procurement strategies with broader business goals, driving long-term success and innovation for the organization.
  • Learning opportunities - Interns will be introduced to category management and supply chain management, including role overviews, strategy discussions, job shadowing, RFP processes, SAP Ariba tool training, and exposure to contract negotiations with SAP strategic suppliers. Interns will also learn how artificial intelligence is being applied in procurement, sourcing, supplier management, reporting, and process improvement. This may include guided exposure to AI-enabled tools, data analysis use cases, automation opportunities, and responsible AI practices. Interns will be introduced to internal stakeholders and will participate in live sessions, guided tool usage, reporting exercises, and practical discussions on how AI can support more efficient and informed decision-making.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Mural) and some knowledge of AI tools (Copilot, Gemini, Perplexity etc.)
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
