Job description

Description:

The Product Manager, Data Center Power & Cooling will lead the strategy, roadmap, development, and lifecycle management of prefabricated and modular data center infrastructure solutions focused on critical power distribution, cooling systems, and integrated deployment platforms. This role is responsible for defining products that combine electrical power and thermal management technologies into scalable, factory-built solutions for hyperscale, colocation, enterprise, and mission-critical environments.

Partnering closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, Sales, and Operations, this position will translate customer requirements, market insights, and business objectives into innovative prefabricated infrastructure products that accelerate deployment, improve reliability, and reduce field installation complexity.

This role is ideal for a product leader with experience in data center infrastructure, critical power, cooling systems, thermal management, or modular construction who thrives at the intersection of technology, engineering, and customer needs.

Core Responsibilities

  • Define and own the product vision, strategy, roadmap, and lifecycle for data center power and cooling solutions.
  • Translate customer, market, and commercial requirements into product definitions, system architectures, and scalable product platforms.
  • Lead the development of prefabricated and modular infrastructure solutions that improve deployment speed, reliability, serviceability, and operational performance.
  • Serve as the product owner for integrated power and cooling solutions, balancing performance, reliability, manufacturability, serviceability, and cost objectives.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration across electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and commercial teams.
  • Drive New Product Introduction (NPI) activities from concept through launch, including requirements definition, design reviews, validation planning, and launch readiness.
  • Define serviceability, maintainability, and field-support strategies for deployed infrastructure solutions.
  • Partner with Engineering and Compliance teams to establish certification strategies and ensure products meet applicable regulatory and industry standards.
  • Support development of field inspection, commissioning, startup, and customer acceptance documentation.
  • Monitor industry trends, customer requirements, competitive offerings, and emerging technologies to guide roadmap decisions.
  • Support strategic customer engagements and key sales opportunities through technical positioning, solution definition, and product expertise.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for product-related decisions, tradeoffs, and roadmap priorities.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with other Product Managers to drive platform standardization and portfolio alignment.
  • Support factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), commissioning activities, and post-launch product improvements.
  • Drive continuous improvement of product management processes, lifecycle governance, and configuration strategies.
  • Partner with Sales, Applications Engineering, and Solutions teams to identify new market opportunities and product enhancements.
  • Help define the future direction of Hyper's modular and prefabricated data center infrastructure portfolio.

Success in This Role

  • Define and launch scalable power and cooling infrastructure platforms that support Hyper's modular data center strategy.
  • Drive standardization and scalability across Hyper's prefabricated power and cooling product portfolio.
  • Develop modular product architectures that improve manufacturability, deployment speed, serviceability, and customer adoption.
  • Partner with customers, engineering, and manufacturing teams to translate market requirements into deployable solutions.
  • Drive product decisions that improve performance, reliability, serviceability, and speed to deployment.
  • Influence the future direction of Hyper's data center infrastructure offerings.
Requirements:
  • 7+ years of experience in product management, applications engineering, systems engineering, solutions architecture, product development, or related technical leadership roles supporting data center infrastructure, critical power, cooling systems, or modular infrastructure solutions.
  • Experience leading complex hardware products through the full product lifecycle, including product development and New Product Introduction (NPI).
  • Strong understanding of data center infrastructure, including power distribution systems, critical power equipment, cooling technologies, thermal management systems, or modular infrastructure solutions.
  • Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams, system layouts, technical drawings, and equipment specifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to balance customer requirements, technical considerations, operational constraints, and commercial objectives.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with prefabricated, modular, skid-based, containerized, or factory-built infrastructure solutions.
  • Experience supporting the design, development, or deployment of modular data centers, power modules, cooling plants, eHouses, electrical skids, or integrated infrastructure systems.
  • Experience with products such as PDUs, RPPs, switchboards, UPS systems, cooling equipment, thermal management systems, or integrated infrastructure platforms.
  • Familiarity with UL, NEC, ASHRAE, and other relevant electrical and thermal standards.

Ideal Background

We recognize successful candidates may come from a variety of technical and commercial backgrounds. Experience in one or more of the following is highly valued: Product Management, Applications Engineering, Systems Engineering, Solutions Architecture, Product Development Engineering, Technical Program Management - within data center infrastructure, critical power, cooling systems, thermal management, electrical infrastructure, modular construction, or prefabricated infrastructure environments.

Candidates with experience delivering prefabricated infrastructure solutions including modular data centers, power modules, cooling plants, electrical skids, containerized systems, or other factory-built critical infrastructure solutions are particularly encouraged to apply.

Location

Onsite in Richmond, VA, or remote depending on candidate location and business needs. If remote, must be willing to travel.

Compensation
